Missed Period But Negative Home Pregnancy Test

Thanks Blondie for the info. I never knew that....the only thing though with me, my periods are ALWAYS on schedule (at least within a day or two). This is the first time I've ever been this late since I started my period when I was 13 (I'm now 25). My husband and I don't use any type of protection and haven't been using any for over a year now. I've had 2 urine test at the doctor's office (both negative) so I will go back at the end of this week for a blood test if no period and I will have them test for thyroid problems also. Maybe they'll tell me one way or another....Pregnant or Thyroid....I've been having some bloody discharge again today....I am kinda worried. Just knowing one way or another would be a relief even though we would love to be pregnant. |

I don't want to offend anyone, but I am seeing a lot of people complaining of being a week or two late and talking about pregnancy symptoms. The problem is, at this point you wont be experiencing symptoms such as a growing belly or nausea. Most symptoms, such as nausea, morning sickness, frequent unrination, breast tenderness and such wont happen until the 4-6 week make. And as far as a growing belly, most women don't even begin to show a pregnancy until 4-6 months. At 2-6 weeks your uterus has barely expanded in size. Even at 10 weeks the baby is barely the size of a peanut. I don't mean to sound critical of anyone, I just want you to be aware of the progression of symptoms. Some women do start having different symptoms at different times, I didn't start having morning sickness with my son until about 8 weeks along, a friend of mine started at 5 weeks, but generally it doesn't start until about 6 week mark. Good luck in you quest for answers girls. |

Tammy, what may have happened is that you took the test at the doctors office and you just didn't have enough of the hormones in you system. When taking a urine test if you drink a lot of fluids the few hours before the test it can delute the hormones. Wait a couple of weeks and make an appointment for the morning when the concentration of the hormone in your urine is the highest. |

I'm 16 days late, negative tests, no symptoms. I was told by my doctor that the urine test is 99% accurate so that is what I'm going with. However, he also said to treat my body well for the next few wks just in case I am in that 1%. If I miss another period I will retest but for now I am just believing the test. It will only be even more disappointing if I develop false hope. I recently read that lots of women develop pregnancy-like symptoms out of wishful thinking....I don't know if its true but thats what I read. |

I beg to differ what you said. When I was pregnant with my son I had morning sickness almost from conception to about the 8th month. I was in maternity clothes at 2, 2.5 months pregnant. Actually most morning sickness is supposed to stop at the sixth month. My point is every pregnancy is different. |

I have Hashimotos disease which is a thyroid disorder. The symptoms of hypothyroidism is very similar to pregnancy. Irregular or missed periods, depression, fatigue, etc. If your ob/gyn has totally ruled out pregnancy, then your next visit should be to an endocrinologist. There they will do a full thyroid screen, or your family physician can do it too. |

Just letting you gals know i think i finally got my period tuesday night. The reason i'm saying i think is because it was extremely light and more brownish then pink then yesterday it was mostly brown and barely anything by the evening there was nothing and now i don't have anything. Do you think it was IT or just a weird discharge? |

I have been having sorta the same problem....my stomach fills very lite crampy then I go to the bathroom and there is a very small amount of bloody discharge (not red blood but brownish and pinkish)....this only happens once or twice a day and not every day (this has been going on for almost two weeks now - and I am almost two weeks late for my period).....I went and had blood drawn today for a pregnancy test and thyroid test....hopefully they'll tell me one way or another by this afternoon or tomorrow. |

I am four days late, and I am having no menstrual cycle symptoms. I never ever skip my period and have never been more than two days late. I have a twin sister whose cycle runs the same as mine. We both started the same day in May but she started her period on time in June and I never started which is unusual since even when I am late so is she. The only time I have ever missed one is when I was pregnant with my daughter. I have taken at least five pregnancy tests and all are negative. I am not trying to get pregnant but am not avoiding it either. But now that there is the possibility since I am late, I kinda would like to find out I am pregnant and so does my husband. When I was pregnant with my daughter, I didn't get a positive pregnancy test until I was eight weeks pregnant. I guess I will try another hpt, and then to the doctor I go. I'm just glad I am not the only one with a wierd body. Baby Dust to all those who want it. |

Hi! I'm 4 months late. All neg. hpts. Haven't been obsessing about it until recently. Just thought it was stress. Went to dr. and she did blood work - thyroid...etc.Got Results...everything fine. She Prescribed Provera. I was going to start taking it...and decided no to...cause started feeling really bloated and I am feeling flutters, swishes, and jabs in my abdomen. Very tired, headaches, swollen abdomen etc. Is my mind playing tricks on me. I have a 5 year old and 1 miscarriage before. The flutters etc. feel the same as when I was pregnant with my daughter. Had pos hpt. with previous preg. Just went to dr again. she did pelvic and said def. not preg. But she gave me referral for ultrasound for my peace of mind.... |

Heyni, the first day I had the spotting or discharge (which ever it would be called) was on 6/11 which was the 28th day of my cycle (usually I start on day 30 of my cycle - like I said above, my cycle ranges from 28 to 32 days with it usually starting on day 30) and I thought "ok, well I'm gonna start a day or 2 earlier than the norm" but I never started cramping bad and I usually do a few hours after my period starts. My first thought after no period was "maybe a UTI". I went to the dr. that Monday and she said that I had blood in my urine and what looked like a slight kidney infection. And since it was time for my period and I was having oral surgery to have wisdom teeth removed on that Tues., she went ahead and did a preg. test that was negative....I went on about my business thinking "my period will start in a day or two" and well here I am over a week later and no period. My stomach cramps (litely) every once in a while but not like a hard period type cramp. I've seen a little of the bloody discharge once today when I went to the bathroom. I don't know what it is. I hope and pray that it is nothing serious. Actually, I would love for them to tell me that I am pregnant but I am trying to keep it out of my mind and not think about it or worry about it, because I know that stress can cause a period to come late. |
