ok this is a bit comlicated, but maybe just getting it all out will help in and of itself. this all started last january when i took a urine test at my docs office that said positive. then less than two weeks later i sufferred a misscarriage. fast forward to mid april when i felt a familiar movement in my belly (i am the mother of a teenaged girl and a two year old boy). i took a home test that said neg. then another because i kinda peed all over the test and thought it may have been comprimised. the second one said positve. so i went to the emergency room (as it was a saturday and docs office was closed) and the test they did was again neg. he gave me a blood lab though which i went and did first thing monday morning. before i received the results i got a very short period then found out the blood test was inconclusive. ok so now after the period ended i took another home test and it said neg and i truly thought i could let the whole thing go and start trying for another baby from scratch (much to my husbands delight!) then the movement started again and my growing belly is getting harder to ignore. then just this morning i got a call from my family doc who wants me to go for another blood test and come see her on friday. i am going to resist the urge to go buy yet another home test (as i have spent a small fortune on them thoughout this). i guess i just want to know what the chances are that i never misscarried or that i perhaps lost a twin (which run in my family and which i have read is more common than we know) and i am sitting here 23 weeks pregnant!! i would be over the moon but also a little freaked out. has this ever happened to anyone else or does it sound like maybe i am just manifesting the pregnancy symptoms because i really want to still be pregnant and to believe i never lost that baby.

Jessjer, The neg/pos/inconclusive/ result mix you are getting could be because of varying amounts of hormones in your system. HPT are not considered accurate if you have been pregnant within the last 8 weeks because you still have those hormones in your system (even if you miscarried or delivered a live birth). That being said, when you say you had a miscarriage did you have a DNC and how far along had you been?
Our bodies can and do manifest preg. symptoms when we want to be pregnant or have suffered a loss. At this point an ultrasound would be able to show if you were pregnant still from before the "miscarriage". The twin situation is quite rare, and again the US will show. Try to get your Dr. to perform an ultrasound soon and redo the blood work in a week. Also, treat your body as if you are pregnant until AF either comes or doesn't, no drugs, alcohol, or caffeine.
HAPPY TESTING!
