Hello everyone, I am currently almost 5 weeks pregnant. I have been using my elliptical about 3-4 times a week for about 45 minutes each time before i got pregnant. I would really push myself though. I did 75RPM throughout the whole workout and 50% of that was uphill. At times my pulse would be around 180BPM. So my question is, can I still continue to use my elliptical? I heard that you're not suppose to have your heart rate above 140bpm. Can anyone please let me know how much aerobic exercise is fine and where would I have to limit myself? I am really scared to put on a lot of weight and want to stay within range.

I did the elliptical 3-4 times a week throughout my entire pregnancy. However, I did slow my pace down, compared to what I did prior to my pregnancy. I did more slow and steady, than fast and hard. You have a head start because you excercised prior to your pregnancy, I was told as long as I didn't feel abnormal, extremely tired after completion, and didn't work to the point of not breathing well, than its o.k. My advice listen to your body and baby; I am so glad I excercised, I believe it contributed greatly to my fast delivery and recovery. Oh, it also helped me keep within the proper weight gain...I managed to keep it all in the belly and breasts...maybe a tad bit in the rear :-)
