Recently I found that I am pregnant. (5 weeks). I used to workout at gym for 1 hour and sometimes yoga for same time period. Recently I read somewhere that u should start exercise after 6/7 weeks of pregnancy. Is it true? I am doing some yoga right now. Should i stop doing that? Can it harm ? This is my first baby and i am alone so totally confused. Doctor is also ready to check me only after 8 weeks. So pl.advice.

As long as you are having no bleeding and are not a high risk, exercise is great and recommended. Have fun.

I have been going to the gym for 2 hours a day, 5-6 days a week for a year. I am about 7 weeks pregnant now and I still do my regular routine..with the exception of running on the treadmill (I do elipitical instead) and I used to do 300 crunches and I have cut back to 30. My doctor told me doing alot (if you are used to it) won't harm the baby at this early stage... just make sure to eat something before working out to keep your blood sugar up and drink LOTS of water b/c dehydration is dangerous during pregnancy other than that I wouldn't worry. Also, if your gym has certified trainers availible, see if they can help you come up with a workout you can do the whole 9 months. Good luck!

This advice probably comes a little late, but the only thing you might want to be careful about is that some inverted yoga positions can be dangerous for the baby. Take a pre-natal yoga class, and find out how to substitute safe positions for inverted ones.
