Depends on what kind of birth you have. If you have an uncomplicated birth, it would be earlier than with a Caesarian, which is basically major abdominal surgery. You will have a 6-week appointment with your doctor after the birth, where you can discuss this. At this point, the doctor checks you to make sure you healed okay. Then, I think you can start your workout. Right after the birth, you will have lost a lot of blood and be weak from the exertion of labor. It wasn't until six weeks that I was even lucid, what with the nighttime feedings, extra energy needed for breastfeeding, whole world being changed.
This pregnancy, I am exercising throughout. After having gotten in shape before conceiving, I want to maintain my muscles for keeping up with my toddler while pregnant, and a faster recovery after pregnancy.
Good for you for exercising. I think it will make your birth and recovery better.
