I'm wondering if kickboxing is safe while I'm pregnant. I was going to keep doing it until I get too big, but I want to be sure it's OK. I've cut out the ab workout only because it seems pointless, is that true?

I'm assuming you're talking about cardio kickboxing, and not any actual contact. You definitely should check with your doctor, but several people in my kickboxing class kept it up until they got big enough that balance became an issue. You should be able to just take it a little easier and continue with what you feel comfortable with.

Thanks for the info, and yes it's cardio kickboxing, not combat. You must have thought I was crazy. This is my 3rd pregnancy, the first two with healthy babies, but this time I'm feeling pessimistic, apprehensive, not sure what it is. I guess I feel like my odds are stacking against me for having another healthy baby.

strong ab muscles apparently make labor easier, i'm not sure why, and i've never given birth so i don't know how much it actually helps

Hey Korin-
I read your post & wanted to check in & see what you decided. My kickboxing instructor still team-taught class (sort of) until she was like 35 weeks. I'm 5 weeks and I'm questioning what to do. Let me know how it goes!

Hi, I'm 30 weeks and took a cardio kickboxing class just the other day! Yes, you can do it. I just keep the kicks *really* low, otherwise, I would lose my balance, and focus primarily on the punches.
