Just wondering if anyone here has bought a good prenatal yoga DVD? I would love to do it for exercise and to keep me calm throughout the pregnancy and I would love to hear of any good DVDs

I too would be interested in this... Hope someone decides to share their experience :)

I loved pre-natal yoga when I was pregnant. I hardly had any back pain or swelling my whole pregnancy. I would have had a super quick labor too which I would attribute to the pre-natal yoga had my little one not decided to flip either the night before or during labor (very rare), which unfortunately resulted in an emergency C-section. I tried most of the pre-natal yoga DVDs. My favorites were Zen Mama with Rainbeau Mars and the Crunch YogaMama. I would not recommend the Method's Baby and Mom Pre-Natal yoga unless you are very new-agey. The lady who teaches it is some lady with a Turban who does a lot of "ooommms" and "pretend you are in a forest in labor". I was laughing so hard I kept falling over. I liked Leisa Hart's fitmama too for exercise, but the yoga section wasn't really yoga- so if you strictly want yoga I would go with something else. My baby is a year old now, so I think there are some new ones that have come out since then that might be pretty good too.

Thank you so much! I checked online and I can check Zen Mama out at my local library, so looking forward to testing the waters with that :)

Is Zen Mama appropriate for beginners? I have no yoga experience at all. I am 16 weeks. Thanks.

Hmmm, good question. I'll be sure to post again once I'm able to get it from the library and watch it. I also did some reading on Amazon and "The Perfect Pregnancy Workout" (combination of yoga/pilates) got rave reviews from women at all stages :)

I was definitely not an advanced yoga person before I was pregnant, but I did have some experience. I did the "yoga for fertility" dvd regularly before I was pregnant, and before that I had done yoga and stretching DVD's before, but not on a regular basis. For an absolute beginner, I would probably try the Crunch YogaMama first as I think it is a little simpler than Zen Mama, but I think both of them are fairly basic and would be fine for beginners. We'll see if sunflowergoddess says the same. I would not get the one with Shiva Rea to start out with if you have never done zoga before- she's not quite as basic. I would try one of the other two first. I didn't like the Shiva Rea as well as the other two anyway. I never tried the Perfect Pregnancy workout, so I don't know anything about that one.
