Hi Ladies, I am starting my 28th week of pregnancy today. I had a rhogam shot last Wednesday evening. Ever since Friday of last week I have had a headache. I have my doctors appointment today. I was thinking I could be developing hypertension as a prolonged headache may indicate high blood pressure during pregnancy. I was also wondering if there could have been any side effects from the rhogam too? Also, off and on I have noticed a collection of hardend flem at the back of my throat as well, so the possibility of allergies could be there..although I have never had any allergies in my life before this. I have tried to increase my fluids and have taken tylenol very occasional the last 6 days to try and help with pain..sometimes it works and than other times it does not. If anyone has any advice on the headache thing and if they heard of any side effects to rhogam please advise me. Hopefully I will get answers from my OB today anyway..but I have a feeling he will just tell me to continue with the tylenol..which I do not like taking even though it is approved while pregnant. Thanks Kristin

Kristin - my guess is it is hormones, not the Rhogam. I had headaches for weeks straight and then one day they just stopped...nothing I did helped them and I was like you only took Tylenol occassionally and stopped when they didn't help. Have you tried a little caffiene? I have to take the Rhogam shots as well and didn't notice issue. Could also be sinus headache if you are having other allergy like symptoms. I occassionally FILLED a cup with ice and added a little Mt. Dew or Sun Drop and it seemed to help a little.

Thankyou, tryingx3..i will try those remedies..my doctor even said it was probably the hormones. My bloodpressure was great too, so that rules out the hypertension ! Thanks again..I'm off to have a glass of cola! ;)

I also had rhogam- 4 times(!!), but no side effects. They may have given me a list of possible side effects or things to watch out for, but I don't remember if headaches were on there. But, I suspect it's just another normal, crazy pregnancy thing, especially since your BP's ok. I would get headaches for weeks on end with my pregnancies. I'd be fine, then BAM- another few weeks of headaches. No pattern as far as I could tell, they'd just come and go. Hopefully you can find something that works on the pain...

My doctor suggested they were a type of atypical migraine - can't remember exactly the wording she used. Suggested I go see a neurologist! I said, no, I don't think so... Fortunately, they went away within days of that suggestion. Power of suggestion? ha ha or Hormones? :-)

Ok..this is not good...I still have a headache..but now it is at the back of my neck to the left and just behind my left temple. It has been two weeks straight of pain. On top of that I have a stiff neck. That's all talk to you all later :(((

Arghhh - that is frustrating! How is your BP checking out?? Did they suggest anything at your doctors office? Maybe you should call them...??

My BP was 110/70 last Wednesday. My doc just told me my estrogen levels are increasing now in the 3rd trimester and that the barometric pressure has been causing alot of headaches with his patients lately. It has been two solid weeks of migraine type pain. I will call Tuesday if it persists..this is getting ridiculous. Thankyou for your concern.

Know you don't like taking anything while pg - but there is also some safe sinus medication that is considered safe after 12 wks - it could be a sinus headache - might be worth trying a dose of sinus meds (or 1/2 the normal recommended dose) just to see if it helps. At least you would know WHAT is causing it if the med helped.
