I think I am around 5 or 6 weeks pregnant I've had 3 ultrasounds and no heartbeat it that normal? Also I've had cramping and some brown discharge no blood. My doctor say's to wait until next week for another ultrasound but I am a nervous wreck. Is anyone elso going through this?

Anything is possible. Not to make you sad, but there is a such thing as a chemical pregnancy. This is where the egg doesn't implant or implants incorrectly and does not continue to grow. You can have all the signs, but eventually the pregnancy ends. I hope this isn't what is going on, but you have proved that you can conceive, whatever the outcome. I miscarried last year at 8w6d after seeing the heart beat. Please trust that you can handle whatever comes your way. I am now 21weeks. Best wishes!

Terry, this is completely normal. Often they don't see the heartbeat until 7 weeks. Also, lots of people spot early in pregnancy. It sounds like you don't know your exact date of conception, too, so you could be on the early side of your range. On an u/s at 5.5-6 weeks they can usually see a yolk sac and 5.5-6.5 they can usually see a fetal pole. Do you know if your dr could see either yet? I know it is next to impossible when you are worried about something, but try to relax and get your mind off everything as much as you can. Good luck!

Thank you, I really hope everything turns out okay on my next visit. The last time I was pregnant was 15 years ago. So all of these symtoms are new to me.

I hope everything turns out ok . Let us know how it goes. Why have you had 3 ultrasounds already if you don't mind my asking? My dr and from what I have heard from other people, the drs don't usually do an ultrasound until they think it is late enough for the heartbeat (unless something else was off like hcg not doubling or something). BTW, I am 37 and have never been pg until now, so these things are REALLY new to me!!

Hi Ann
Thank you I'll keep you up to date. I think I am around 6 weeks. I heard though that sometimes you don't hear the heartbeat until around the 8th week. I am just praying everything will be okay.
