No you are not too old. All you can do is try and see how it goes. Good luck and happy ttc'ing! |

I too am 42 and trying to have a 2nd child. I am concerned though because I haven't had my period this time, took 4 home pregnancy tests and also went to the Dr. and got a pregnancy test. All negative, BUT I am experiencing some pregnancy symptoms; increased apetite, nausea, discharge, some nipple tenderness. This is very frustrating to me because I want to have a 2nd child. Good luck to you in getting pregnant. Wish me luck too! |

I have the same question that started this thread... |

I am 42 and TTC a 2nd child. I feel I am not too late. My first is 12 and is asking me when will we have a little sis or bro. My Dr. suggested that I take Folic Acid for two month before I try. I will be seeing my Dr. in June after my CD1. Baby dust to you all. |

Hi Girls!! You are no too late...give it a go and take a chance. I had my first at 39. Fell pregnant when my lo was 8 months while bf at 40..and like you~~ young-at-heart..I also had an ectopic In (Sept/october '07) as well as other mishaps with pregnancy. I have been ttc since febuary with no luck..but am hoping my luck will come in. I am doing opk's, using a ferning microscope, I take my bbt's and I am taking b6 to lengthen luteal phase. I am still bfing my lo who is 17 months. I have also had a sonohysterogramm (all clear) and had my hormone levels checked and everything including my fsh and ovarian reserve seemed great. So it is just a matter of timing and remaining relaxed...I wish you all the very best and take care of your fertility..and again 43 is completely doable for pregnancy good luck to you all!!!!!! xo |

Kristin72 --for those of us who may be new to this, could you explain/spell our all your acronyms? That is one of the questions I was asking--what should I investigate, if anything, immediately? Should I pretest or try first? |

bbt-basal body temperature, lo little one, bf breastfeeding, dh dear husband, bd baby dance or intercourse, opk's-ovulation prediction kits, ferning micropscope is fertilty tool to tell you when you are most fertile as does the opk. FF is fertilty friend a website with charting to help you conceive, a sonohysterogram is when you inject saline into your tubes to check to see if there are any blockages...( mine were clear) ovarian reserve is when they check hormone levels and then can tell if you are still producing eggs. or that you have eggs left in reserve. :) Young at heart~it does hurt to undergo some simple blood tests or to have the sono seeing as you have had an ectopic..it just checks to make sure there are no blockages like i mentioned. Best of luck if you need any help we are here..I am also on the board ttc and recent bbt's part 3..join us if you like. Around 5 girls have already become pregnant over there who were ttc. Now there are just 2 of us...with the preggo's still checking in. |

I just re-read your post again young at heart. I know your situation so well . You are NOT too old to conceieve. Your regular periods are a good sign as is your health. You need to get some advice from a fertility specialist or your Obgyn to see what's going on from the inside. Start taking your prenatal vitamins and getting a pap or a ultrasound. also start taking baby aspirin this helps to make your uterus a good environment for emplanting an egg and get your doc to runs some tests. There is also accupuncture if needed to allign your hormones (if neccessary). You have to act soon...sorry for the added pressure..but I too feel pressure especially with the added concerns of a former missed miscarriage where I lost the baby at 14 weeks and my body did not miscarry so I had to have a D&C. I also had retained placenta after the loss but fell pregnant on my second cycle. AND also the more recent ectopic in October which was devestating for me again. But I am back on the band wagon hoping for #2. Our destiny will soon pan our but we CAN take charge of our fertility it is not too late. Get on it girl...all the best!!! |

Kristen72, thank you for you words of encouragement. What baby aspirin are you referring to? I am only taking FA and trying my best to eat healthy. One thing I do not do is excercise only God knows why. I have agreed with my DH that he must go for tests and we can take it from there. |

Hi, I am a mother of 4 and just found out today that #5 is currently growing inside me. I will be 44 when he is born. I try not to let stats get to me and encourage you to learn to listen to your own bodies more and not rely so heavily on the experts. They are just people, they make mistakes and all their tests are based on averages, not you. |

I am 42 and have been trying for a baby since july last year, in november last year i found out that i was pregnant, every thing was going well but i had a week of bad sickness, found out the end of january that id had a delayed miscarriage. i was told that i could carry on trying and that there was nothing wrong with being in my 40s to have a baby, ive read on this site a lot of women in their 40s that have had the same as me, would like to hear from other ladies that have had the same, im not pregnant yet. |
