Hi, I just wanted to post some good news. I gave birth to a v healthy and adorable baby girl last month! They found an EIF and CPC on her 20 week ultrasound. I never did the AFP test so i worried my entire pregnacy. I am really sad i never enjoyed my pregnancy but it was worth it in the end. Pls Try not too worry as much as I did, my drs said they see this every day! THis post really helped me a lot during my pregnancy! Its pretty sad im getting way more sleep w/ a newborn then the last few weeks of my pregnancy when i worried so much:-)

My due date is Nov 6, but I am having a C-section so it will probably be around Oct 19. I am getting to the really uncomfortable phase of pregnancy where I am tired and run down all the time. I have been seeing a specialist during this pregnancy because I have had previous miscarriages and have to take a shot every day of blood thinner, but I am used to it. Everything has went really good, except for the scare of the spot. I had toxemia with my first pregnancy and have been worried about that coming back but so far it has not. Let me know how your appointment goes, I go for a checkup next week.

amyf~hi just back from my appt. i gained 2lbs., my baby's heart was beating strong & of course my belly measured HUGE! lol! sorry to hear of all your troubles with the miscarriages! i can imagine dealing with those shots & worrying about what "might" happen is very challenging! i too miscarried a baby between my oldest daughter and my second daughter (caroline) that passed away! this pregnancy stuff can be extremely difficult~but, just look at the reward in the end of it all~little precious miracles from GOD! i don't sleep very well, up & down all night going to the bathroom! i have absolutely zero energy! i asked my dr about the spot again he said he had not seen anything abnormal throughout this entire pregnancy & that 99% of the babies with this spot are born fine! he also said that he delivered a baby 3 weeks ago that had the spot just like my baby and it was perfectly healthy! he said the mother worried herself sick although he continually reminded her not to worry! he said use to drs put more emphasis on the spot & concerns with it than now, that this is seen very often! i pray he is correct in my case! still praying for you & yours! lydia!

I am scared to know how much weight I have gained next week. I have been eating like a horse lately. I also get up about 3 or 4 times a night and have zero energy. I have been in the nesting mode and trying to get my house ready for the baby but it is hard to keep things tidy when I can barely bend over. I think this is going to be a long 6 weeks I have left. I have gained about 30 pounds so far and do not want to gain anymore but the way I am eating I think I can be sure to gain at least 10 more.

Hi everybody. I first discovered this site in mid-April, when I was approximately 18 weeks pregnant with my first child at the age of 37. That week I had an ultrasound at the perinatologist's office and they discovered the dreaded "white spot" on the baby's heart. I opted against an amnio because the triple-screen test indicated that my odds for Down syndrome were 1 out of 3500 -- much better than the usual odds for my age. I am now happy to report that our baby boy was born perfectly healthy on August 8 -- though he was 4 weeks early, he is perfect in every way and is developing on target. According to my OB/GYN, statistics are indicating that the so-called connection between a cardiac echogenic focus and Down's is proving to be much lower than initially thought...and I believe that pretty soon they will realize that there is actually little to no relation between the two, as this board seems to prove. I wish blessings to all of you for happy pregnancies and healthy babies.

Our baby boy Jack was born on August 25th and is perfectly healthy. After hearing that he had a calcium deposit on his heart in April, reading the success stories on this website gave us hope. In turn we pray that the delivery of our perfect son will give you hope in the remaining months of your pregnancies.

Hello, I want to thank everyone for there storys, I too dont know what i would do with out this forum.
Here is my story.
I am a mother of 2 boys and found out i was pregnant in May, After 4 months of bad morning sickness we went for our exciting U/S to make sure the baby was healthy and find out what the baby was. We were so excited to know we were having a girl, i over heard the tech say i have never seen that before when i went past the door after going to the bathroom. So worried about the comment and feeling something is not right i called my midwife, she called me back the following day to tell me about this spot on my babys heart, she said try not to worry, (famous last words) Everything else looked normal and we will do another U/S at 28weeks, Well i was beside myself with panic,scared to death and sad, i think i cried so much i had no more tears! I decided to go for the screening test the next day and fortunatly it came back negative, so, so far all that has been found it this spot, I thought this screening test would help me feel better but i know it is not 100% so i'm still worried. When i strart to panic i log onto this forum which gives me hope my baby will be healthy, so i thank you all who share there storys and write back after the baby is born.

Hello Downunder, I understand completely how you feel right now. I got the negative results back from my screening last Friday and I've been very hopeful and yet I can't help but worry about that spot. Keep the faith and know that you are not alone in this.

Do you know your score by any chance?
She had said mine was 1 in 1200 something like that, but i read some where you have to half it when you get one these markers, Do you know anything about this?

Every doctor and every center treats these results along with this particular marker a little differently. Mine changed my First Trimester Combined screening results from 1 out of 1600 to 1 out of 800, after they found the dreaded whith spot on the heart . Some centers do not however change the results, and some don't even communicate it to the patient when they see it on the u/s. It is a very controvery subject right now.

I am just giving an update. I am now 33 weeks and went to the doctor for a checkup today. He said the spot was gone and that it was not something I should have ever even concerned myself with to begin with, that they mean nothing at all. So I am going to try and enjoy my pregnancy and have faith that everything is ok. He said she looked great, she is measuring about 2 weeks larger. She is now at about 5 1/2 pounds and I still have 4-5 weeks to go.

amyf~i am so happy to hear your good news! i can imagine that you feel so relieved to know that the spot is gone! as i mentioned before, at 32 weeks i went for my last US and the spot was still there! it wasn't any larger & there were no other markers but, it was still there! i am now 35 weeks, i will be 36 weeks thursday! i go to the dr. for my check up friday & then i start going once a week until my delivery! i am just anxiously awaiting the arrival of a healthy little boy! i am scared a lot, but, mostly very hopeful & confident that everything is going to be normal with my baby boy! i wonder if there are a lot of people that have had their last US with the spot still being there that delivered a healthy baby!? i have chatted with one lady from this message board who said her baby's spot never went away prior to her delivery and she was born very healthy & normal! i will continue to pray for everyone here & think of you all the time! thanks so much for the follow up posts, they make my day, literally! Hi Downunder, sorry for the late reply. My results for the AFP showed 1 in 10,000 for DS. I feel so relieved, although we just had a US II today and the spot is still there, however the Dr. said he saw no other signs and we should not worry about the spot at all. I hope he's right.

Hi everyone. I first posted about four months ago about finding the echogenic focus on our 20 week ultrasound. Well without repeating my story, I'd just like you all to know that I gave birth on August 24th (two weeks late) to a perfectly healthy, beautiful baby boy named Quinlan. All I can say is enjoy your pregnancy and try not to worry. Chances are everything will be fine. Also . . thank you so much for all the support. This forum was so helpful.

Well l went for my normal appointment and ad many questions for the midwife, i asked her has she seen many cases of this and her repley was at least one a month, my next questions was has anyone delivered a baby in her care with DS with just this one marker her response was NO. She said she has seen 3 or 4 cases of DS and in each case there was many markers and indication, she told me i understand your worry as a mother but as a physician she was not worried and felt confident i will deliver a healthy baby, she also said the DR at the U/S did not give her any instruction which indicates he was not worried. You would think all this good news would help but i still get very worried and anxious, its just the not 100% sure part that scares me and that i could be that 1. So i will go for my next U/S at 28weeks to see if the spot is still there and everything is measuring right, i still feel this is one of the most scariest things to go through because we all just want the best for our babys amd healthy ones at that, take care
