Steffie92s - I tried to find the group but because you have it as secret, you have to invite people to join the group, we can't search for it. If you want to add me to your friends, we can figure it out together :) My e-mail addy is ohhmuffin "at" yahoo.com This forum won't let us post websites or anything, so have to put the e-mail that way, but it is typed out the normal way obviously! lol!

steffie92s - February 12th, 2009 1:05 PM

Ohmuffin- I'm from Miami!!!

Steffie- I'll be emailing you soon so I can join the facebook group!

Just a question, thinking back at my ultrasound, my baby had his hands closed (fists clenched ????) all through the ultrasound, the technician did not say anything, since everything was going fine, and the heart was the last thing checked. Now I'm thinking should she have gone back to check on the fists or am I just being paranoid? Sincere answers appreciated.

Anyways I went to my OBGYN yesterday and he said that my pregnancy would not require more ultrasounds than normal, so my next one would be about 26-28 weeks, but I just want to go see if he opens his hands or not? If he doesn't is this another indicator? Thanks for your answers, just wondering if anybody knows....

ohhmuffin - February 13th, 2009 10:31 AM

Hi Eugenia,
Miami? Holy moly....I'll trade you! haha! You can take the five feet of snow I have my front yard and I'll take your sunshine :)
I think like all of us though, you are analyzing your ultrasound wayyyyy too much! We know what to look for if things are "wrong", thanks to the internet, however, we are not trained in what exactly to look for. And especially what to look for that is perfectly normal and shows that our babies do not have ds. Does that make any sense? Because we've been put in this situation, we are overanalyzing things and looking for the simplest things, which can also point towards a perfectly normal and healthy baby. Try to relax; things are going to be perfect!

Hope everyone is doing well! 4 weeks today till my little wee-nut arrives......permitted he/she decides to be on time! Hope to see you all join the facebook group as well!

Hi everyone- Still waiting for my girl. She is as stubborn as her mom, I guess. Will keep you all informed when she finally makes her appearance.
Wannalil1 I hope you are feeling better today. And Eugenia- They all make fists. When I first saw it it looked awkward to me too but in another ultrasound I saw all 10 fingers, etc. No need to worry. Had the doctor been worried about it he would have taken a closer look.
Steffie- thanks for taking the time to start the facebook group. I will try to sign up soon.
Ohmuffin- I tried the whole eviction notice thing. My girl doesn't seem to care. I don't think she's taking me seriously. Every day I wonder if it'll be today but..... not yet!!!!

Eugenia - February 13th, 2009 10:42 PM

1moremom- Glad to hear from you, I'm sure you've been on everyone's thoughts as you have been on mine! Hang in there.... she'll be here soon and as healthy as can be!!!!

Thanks for your reply on my clenched fists comment... I know deep inside its paranoia... but I couldn't help it when I remembered he didn't open his fists during the entire ultrasound.... and since the tech saw the heart last and everything in the beginning was OK I just thought maybe she had overseen it.... paranoid I know..... I just hope he opens his little hands in my next U/S... Thank god I have you guys to cheer me up!!!!

Eugenia - February 13th, 2009 10:46 PM

Ohmuffin - Yep overanalyzing..... Makes sense!!! Safe to say I will NOT be doing the 3D ultrasound.... otherwise I might drive my husband and all you guys crazy!!!! Just having a weird day.... Thanks!!!!!

Hi ladies , I don't want to scare anyone but my baby had eco focus , I had ammio , everything was ok but at 39 weeks day of my c section my baby was stillborn due to hpercoiled umbilical cord , get all the test you feel need to be done , I feel sometimes that my baby eco foc was his way of telling me to keep a closer eye on him , I didn't , pregnancy was traeted as routine and now I have to live without him ,Before this hapend to me I knew nothing about eco focus ,ds , and 2600 babies are stillborn in usa every year ,most cord accident occur between 32 /38 weeks ,If I knew then what i know now maybe my baby woul still be here , go with your instinct , I asked my ob for more test during pregancy but after ammio they said not to worry baby is ok , I hope my baby's death can help other women not to go trough this loss. Have your test if you feel or belive you need .

ohhmuffin - February 15th, 2009 10:44 PM

Just checking in on 1moremom's baby.....hello baby, where are you???? Hope you're not causing momma too much grief right now! Maybe you need to try a stronger tone of voice when giving the verbal eviction notice?

steffie92s - February 16th, 2009 11:48 AM

paolan - i am so sorry for you loss. I can't imagine the pain you feel. I think a lot of women who do not get the amino are constantly overanalyzing. I know I am. That is really the only thing we can do until the baby is born.

1moremom- any progression yet?

steffie92s - February 16th, 2009 12:00 PM

If any other moms or dads what to join our Facebook Group please shoot me an email to steffie92_bfas at yahoo.com. So far there are 4 of us that are in the group. This way we can post links, photos, etc sharing our good news when our little ones are here. I have posted numerous scientific articles which say that an isolated echogenic cardiac focus is to be taken as a normal variant and does not increase the risk of ds especially in low risk situations.

hello everyone-
Just checking in... Im now 24 weeks today and I went to my monthly appointment this morning. (My appt. last month I was told about a calcium deposit in my daughter's heart, and I saw a specialist a week later and told not to worry everything else looked great.) Well I was very suprised this morning, my doctor came in measured my stomach, listened to the babie's heart beat, and asked if I had any questions. I was almost speechless, after I told her everything was going fine, I asked what the plan was about the calcium deposit. My doctor said that since everything else looks fine and the specialist had no concerns not to worry at all.
This appt. was very reassuring, and I hope that I can stop worrying and hopefully start enjoying my pregnancy more....

1moremom - February 17th, 2009 6:06 AM

Well, still waiting. I went to the doc yesterday. All looks good and baby is head down but he doesn't want to induce. I'm only a week late but it feels like a year. She is getting so big and strong that it is really uncomfortable and painful.
Ohhmuffin- I tried the stronger tone of voice, with baby and doctor, to no avail. Baby is cozy and doc is adamant he doesn't want to induce yet.
I felt sorry for myself for a good part of the day but am starting to feel a bit better.
Ashley I'm glad to hear things went so well at your appt and that you are finding joy in your pregnancy. With the worry it can be hard at times but we all deserve to feel that joy.

ohhmuffin - February 17th, 2009 10:14 AM

1moremom - Still hanging in there then.....how long will your doctors let you go before inducing? Our doctors here will only let us go 10 days past our due date before inducing. Sending more labor vibes your way......and hopefully the little one will take it a little easier on you!!!! Have you been trying all those old wives tales things to bring on labor? DO NOT DO CASTOR OIL!!!! lol! You do not need a colon cleaning at this point! I think I tried everything with my last pregnancy: fresh pineapple, raspberry leaf tea, sitting on a birthing ball, walking, etc. She ended up coming a day before her due date, but I think she was just done incubating. Good luck!!!!!!

steffie92s - February 17th, 2009 10:24 AM

1moremom - Aww hun I think your doc is right and I think it is good he does not want to induce late. My doc will go as late as 12 -14 days. You lil girl must want a little bit more time in the oven before she is ready. I know you are anxious though and that must be really hard. Keep your head up and anyday now you will be holding her in your arms.

ashley- I'm glad you got reassurance from the doc and the specialist. I hope you can enjoy your pregnancy more now:)

kd8407 - February 18th, 2009 11:08 AM

Hi I just had my first ultrasound on Mon. and they found an echogenic focus in the left ventricle of the babies heart. My original due date was 7/8/09 but when they did the u/s they moved it to 7/23/09. This totally freaked me out on top of the focus but the dr. assured me it was measuring symmetrically small all over. It wasn't like it had short arms or legs or a small head. I have my level 2 ultrasound on March 2 (thanks for making me wait drs.) Even though I've researched and it sounds pretty common and the dr. said that there was no other markers of downs, I'm still freaking out!! I opted out of the blood test and amnio. I'm only 27 so I keep hearing that my risks for downs is low. Any thoughts on my situation?
