After a miscarriage, over a year of trying and going through both costly and emotionally draining fertility tx, I am thrilled to share that I am PREG! Found out on 10/28. I am about 4 wks along. I have some worries and concerns. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

My nurse told me that my HCG level was really good but it needs to double by 10/31, when I go back in. What does that mean and what if it doesn't double? I'm so terrifed of having another mc.

Also, I have the usual sore boobs and feeling tired, but I've also had cramps for the past week and sometimes the cramps are knife stabbing. I'm also a bit constipated...so maybe that's where the cramps are coming from. What do you think?

I am so happy and yet so terrified at the same time. Any thoughts are appreciated. Thank You!

Hi Roxy - I just wanted to say congratulations on your BFP! That is great news. Don't be too concerned with cramps as they are quite normal. Its only when its accompanied with bleeding that it would be of concern. Everyone is different as well and if it really concerns you, it may be a good idea to talk to your gyno about it and I'm sure they'll be able to put your mind at ease. With the HSG level the nurse had already said that it was a good level so don't worry. There are a number of tests that you can have and I'm sure once you've done these you'll be able to relax a bit more. Again, congratulations on your little miracle.

Roxy,
The first trimester was the scariest for me. I understand where your comming from with all of your fears. I had never had a miscarriage before, but being 37 when I got pregnant I knew my risk was high. I also found out I was pregnant at 4 weeks and immediately went to the doctor. My doctor treated me very coldly and said he could not tell me my pregnancy was viable till he saw a heartbeat. Waiting those 3 more weeks was torture! But when I went back all was well and there was that little flicker of a heartbeat on the monitor. Having worries is completely normal. My worries have changed each trimester. I am now just starting my 3rd trimester and I worry that I may roll over and squish the baby in my sleep! I also worry when one day my baby is real active and then the next day pretty quiet. My only advice is to try and enjoy each day as it comes. Stay busy and time will somehow just fly by. Keep us posted with your progress.
