I had to post this for all of you who are trying to conceive over 40 and are looking for positive stories to focus on. Here is my story. Got married at 40 ( later in life) came home from honeymoon pregnant. Lost it, was crushed. Got pregnant again 5 months later just after my 41st birthday. Had my first baby, a beautiful baby boy. Breast fed him for 6 months, 2 months later when my son was 8 months old, I was pregnant again. Had my daughter when I was 43. I am about to turn 44 and I have a 20 month old and a 4 month old. Both are beautiful, healthy, smart, absolutely gorgeous kids. Both pregnancies were fantastic. I was more than grateful to be big and uncomfortable. I loved my aching back, and sore muscles. I was grateful for every ache and pain. Older moms do not complain, we find joy in every aspect of pregnancy, labour and delivery. DO NOT listen to anyone who is negative about being pregnant, or getting pregnant after 40. It happens. Focus on positive stories, and positive thoughts. I did 2 pregnancies in 24 months over 41. One birth was vag, the other C sect. I have done it both ways, and I am grateful for both experiences. Read only positive stories, and talk to positive people. My OBGYN did not look at me as "high risk", nor did he treat me as such, he treated me the same as the 20 year old moms. Your risk of birth defects at age 41 is 2% That's all !! Therefore your chance of a healthy baby is 98% That is the best lottery on the planet. That's what he told me. Focus on that !! We are built for it, our bodies just have to get on board, and sometimes it takes a bit to get them going, but once we do, we are just as viable as the younger ones, only difference is we "older" moms, don't complain. Talk to your OBGYN, they can help. But please, read this story and never lose hope, stay open and focused, your babies need you to. Picture their little faces. I guess my message is not only can you get pregnant over 40, you can have more than one baby. Once you have the first one, the second one comes easy. The body has an amazing memory. Hope this helps. I know reading the positive posts on here helped me stay focused, so I hope this helps anyone who reads it. Baby Dust to all !!!!

Thank you so much for your post! I'm 42 and just found out that I'm pregnant! Now this will be my third pregnancy though, my youngest is 12 and my oldest is 14! Now I know they will be happy but of course one wants a brother and the other wants a sister LOL! I don't care as long as it's healthy :o) Thanks so much for your positive post! I really needed to read that as it seems that the doctors aren't very supportive, well my GP sure wasn't! When I thought I was pregnant back in June he was so negative! When I told him that the blood test came back negative he turned to me and said "That's good" I couldn't believe it! I'm sure the OBGYN I had for my son will be supportive though. I'm going to make an appointment and HOPEFULLY I can get the same OBGYN because I KNOW she'll be great!
Cheers,
Halina
