Hi, I recently just had what was considered a "missed abortion" at nine weeks. The baby's heartbeat was only 70 one day so I was sent for another u/s the next day and then there was no heartbeat. I was devastated, it was a Friday so I had to wait until Monday to have the d&c, so I cried the whole weekend knowing I was carrying this baby that was not alive. I have three children ages: 22, 20 and 17 and I am almost 41. They did tests on the tissue of the fetus and I just found out that there was three cromosone 15's and that is why the baby did not survive. Does anybody know anything about this and I am just wondering if I will be able to have another baby?

Hi. I'm 41 years old and have two kids. One is 22 years old, and the other is 14 mos old. Don't feel too old yet:) I will say that chromosomal abnormalities are more prevalent in women our age because older eggs are more likely to have imperfect divisions during the last phase of Meiosis. Don't worry if you haven't a clue what I am talking about. My point is, although we are at higher risk for abnormalities, the overall chances of us giving birth to healthy babies far outweighs these other prospects. FYI, I work in healthcare.

i was 42 yo when i had my MC, i was devastated, it was my first pregnancy, and i was not sure if i will be pregnant again. 3 months after i got pregnant with my 13 months old boy. i was 43 when i had him. i know no words can comfort you right now, but trust me this one shall pass too, and you will be fine. (((hugs)))
