[Original Post]

I just wanted to share with you for all the over 40 women out there trying to conceive or have already conceived that it is possible to have a normal and healthy baby. I am 43 years young and I have a 6 1/2 month old. I gave birth to her on her due date of April 20, 2006. I am having so much fun with her. I have found being an older mom that I am more relaxed and less stressed and have more patience than I did when I was in my 20's. Being a mom again at 43 is an exciting experience. My baby daughter is an angel, a gift from above. I know this to be true. So, to all the women over 40 pregnant and trying to become pregnant, do not get discouraged. Babies are a blessing and I wish all of you all the best. Take care.

i'm 48 on my first IUI (7dpo faint positive fmu) had my 2nd child without fertility help at 42. my first at 25. so, go figure. some of it follows your own mother, your intuitiom and desire. older moms seem more grounded, so that's a good thing for the kids!

Course it is! My own mother had me when she was 44, and FCOL, my husband's aunt had a perfect child at 49! I'm 39 and 17 weeks with my second. My quad came back 1/268 for trisomy, I'm feeling fat and happy. Also, my folks are in their 80's now and stress that having me later on perhaps motivated them to take care of themselves so they would be around until I grew into an adult. They're still here, and frankly, more healthy and full of vitality than some people half their age.

Thanks for your post. I am 37, recovering from a m/c and getting ready to try again for my first. I am so sick of hearing "at your age..." and "high risk." The only good news is "at my age," my insurance pays for everything due to my "high risk" status. I iwll be dropping in here again, hopefully with good news.

Well, Buff, your husband's aunt has me beat. I gave birth 9 months ago to a healthy baby boy (my fifth child - the first from my second marriage, with my other children from my first marriage ranging in ages from 18-24) at the age of 47 (3 1/2 months short of my 48th birthday). My husband was 40 at the time (this is his second child, he has another from his first marriage, age 14). To be honest, our baby's been such a blessing that we've thought about having another. I loved being pregnant, and if I didn't know better, think I had an easier time (despite getting gestational diabetes in my third trimester, but even that didn't make me feel poorly) than when I was younger! Buff, I'd like to know more about your husband's aunt (and could you please clarify what FCOL means, as I'm not abbreviation savvy). My maternal grandmother (from outside the US) had 17 children (only 12 survived - they were born 50-70 years ago, and only one or two were born in a hospital), and I'm almost certain I heard she had children in her late 40's, if not early 50's...all perfectly healthy.

Hi everyone - I am so glad to have found this thread. I am 42 and ttc. I am looking for someone to talk to during the whole process. I just got af today after my second IUI and am feeling very down all day. I am so afraid that time is running out and when I search for statistics on the web I just get more depressed. I got pregnant naturally last Dec and had a baby girl this past aug. She died from Leukemia 12 days later. I want to be a mother again so badly . IS there anyone who is going through IUI over the next month that I can "buddy up " with? I promise that I will not stay in this down and out mood. I will perk up again in a day or two......

Yeah! Just wanted to say Hi to you all and I am glad to find you here! I have one VERY precious son who is 9 now - I had him when I was 35. (I conceived him on the FIRST try - I know that is rare!) I have been wanting another child for a while now and I know if we are going to make this happen, we better start now! Hubby just turned 41 and I will be 45 mid 2007. I would have had more babies before, but I run a daycare and I felt it would be too much, but the way I see it, if I can take care of everyone else's babies, I can take care of my own! I'll definitely go to the doc and get everything checked out first. I thought of trying those strips to see if you are fertile - anyone try those???
Have a great day everyone - Merry Christmas!!!!!!!!!

Amy t. - December 25th, 2006 9:56 PM

Thanks for the encouragement . I have a seven and a four year old and wanted another one but I was nervous because of my age. I just turned 40 a month a go and was blessed to find out I'm pregnant. I have a sister in law who had my nephew at 44 and other than the physical exhaustion she has so much more patience than she did with her older children. But I feel better knowing there are other woman who have experienced having a child and are so blessed with their baby and an older age. Thanks and take care,

RockinMama - December 25th, 2006 11:55 PM

Oh! Just had to add. My "half sister" was 47 when she had her last child - she was already a Grandma a couple times over! Her little girl is 4 now and doing great!
