Is anyone having a fetal echo cardio gram done? I'm 36 and my dr recommends it since I refused the amnio. I'm only 7 weeks now and the test isn't until Nov. Any advice or comments? Thanks! :)

Hi Kari...what is a fetal echo cardio gram, did he explain what they do? ( I have a common spot on our baby's heart, the echogenic (calcium deposit) foci and that procedure was mentioned once at a visit.) At this stage of your pregnacy they can't even thorougly examine the heart yet, but maybe he means down the road. Did he explain anything to you? Thanks!

Ooopss wait, I just reread your post. Yep, it is down the road. Just wondering if he gave you details of what it actually is, sorry I don't have any advice or comments... :)

Hi Patty, they really didn't explain it but I'll ask my dr the next time I go. I'll let you know! :)

Hi Kari - I just read your post... I'm 35 & am expecting my first baby 11/19. I've had the amnio done & was told that I have a 2 vessel umbilical cord, versus the normal 3 vessel. So, I'm having the fetal echo cardiogram test done on Friday. I was worried myself but believe now that it's just a precautionary measure that has to be taken. I'll let you know more when I find out after the test! Until then, hang in there & try to stay calm (easier said than done, I know!)!

I am 26 weeks pregnant and was diagnosed with a two-vessel umbilical cord earlier in my pregnancy and was scheduled to have a fetal echo done. I also refused an amnio. I did have the echo done and everything was great. It is just an ultrasound performed and read by a pediatric cardiologist. Just a precautionary test. Good luck to you, hope all goes well.

Hi there,
We are now 17 weeks along and our doctor has suggested a Fetal echocardiogram due to the fact that both my husband and I have small heart complications. I am wondering if it is common to have echo's done this early or should we wait until 25 weeks?
