Anterior Placenta (placenta In Front)

I had an anterior placenta with my first child. I also found out with this pregnancy I have an anterior placenta also. With my first son, I started to feel little "pops" at about 18weeks. I am only 12 weeks now so I don't know about this time. I was also 20lbs lighter with my first child to start out with and I think that when you are thinner, you feel it sooner as well. I do know though that an anterior placenta can cushion some of the kicks so you may not feel it as soon. |

I have an anterior placenta. I am 24 weeks. The doctor wasn't worried as we could always pick up the heartbeat. I started to feel the baby after 22 weeks and although they are not strong it's now regular movement. My dr did say it does insulate you from feeling some of the movement. |

I was anterior with my daughter. And posterior with this one. There is definetly a difference in movement, but nothing to worry about, its totally normal. |

Hi, yes the same happened to me, ! I had an scan at 20wks but the baby was not lying in the proper position for them to see kidneys so I went back at 23wks, the baby was fine and I could see it kicking away but I was really worried as I was feeling no movement, the midwife and the sonographer both said it was nothing to worry about, especially as it was my first and I started feeling movement in week 24! |

I meant to say I also have an anterior placenta! Im 36 wks now and others say that they can see arms and legs sticking out, where as I have never had this, I think you can feel that the baby is that little bit further back! |

Thanks for the responses. I didn't have any problems when I was pregnant with my daughter. She kicked the crap out of me. That was 6 yrs. ago so I forgot what the movement feels like and thought I was missing something. Kinda freaked me out then they said this baby is behind the placenta and I may not feel movement for a while longer until the baby is stronger. Did your drs. do anything extra to monitor the baby since everyday movement wasn't possible as an indicator that things were going well in there? |

Hi, no to be honest my anterior placenta wasnt even mentioned to me, it was just in my notes and I researched it myself, the professionals didnt seem that bothered and as long as they can hear heartbeat at appointments, and see movement at u/s then all is well, like I say i didnt feel movement till week 24, i was sooo panicked, but they still said not to worry and i would be feeling something in the next few weeks, no offence to anyone but it doesnt help when people ask if your feeling movement and when you say no, they tell you that you should be, as they were etc etc! My advice is buy a doppler, mine was quite a cheap one from Ebay but it always done the trick, I listened to the heartbeat every night and it was really re-assuring :) |
