Have any of you been told that your baby has a bright or echogenic bowel? I have had two ultrasounds that confirmed a bright bowel. They say it could be Downs, Cystic Fibrosis, baby swallowed blood, bowel is forming abnormally, or in 90% of cases, totally normal! In first trimester screening I tested at lowest risk for Downs (1 in 10,000) and if it was Downs, other markers should have appeared, such as an enlarged heart, which baby's heart is fine. I tested negative for Cystic Fibrosis and apparantly both parents need to be postive for the gene in order to pass to baby. They suggested I do an amnio, but it seems too much since they aren't really sure what it is and again, that 90% of cases it is normal. Have any of you given birth with a baby with a bright bowel? What happened? Thanks for any advice. I'm kinda mad that they told me about this when it seems the likelihood that something is really wrong is pretty low.
