Confused About Maternity Bras

I personally think any bra is fine as long as you are comfortable. I went to the maternity store at one point because my boobs had outgrown my old bras, and let me tell you what a mistake that was. The bras are just like any other bra on the planet, but very cheaply made and over priced. I tired them on and everything, but when it came down to actually wearing them, that's when I noticed how horrible they are. A sports bra or bra from a normal store will suffice as long as you are wearing the right size. |

I, too bought a maternity bra because I am getting so huge on top. Typical for me and pregnancy. I almost get embarassed at how huge they are. It's pretty hard not to look at them and go "WOW"! But anyhow, I wasted my money on a maternity bra and it's the most uncomfortable one I have! I hate it and if there was a return policy on them I would return it, but at Motherhood Maternity there isn't )-: So I have found the sports bra I have works best. I need to go buy a new one. I only have one and it's getting worn out fast. But they make my boobs look weird and kind of flattened out in maternity shirts. I don't like that. |

I agree maternity bras are big waste and they are so uncomfortable---I tried the one on at Motherhood Mat. and they were awful. I did find a Bali bra at Pennys that is almost like a sports bra wtih more support (looks like a granny bra) but it way comfortable and stretchy. I just went up four inches and 1 cup size (although now this is getting a little snug!) |

LOL...the sports bras that I got make me look like I have a uniboob....I don't like how they look either. I also went to Motherhood Mat. and stuff were expensive. Believe it or not fr. size 32 I've progressed to size 38! I'm only 18 weeks pregnant! How much bigger are these going to get? |

I have seen that maternity store in the malls and keep thinking i need to go there!!! Now im reconsidering seeing what all you girls have to say about it!!! With my first I was wearing sports bras until 4 months and then I HAD to go buy a real bra, so i went to wal mart and got BESTFORM sport nursing and underwire nursing bras... which were fairly comfy but I couldnt find the sport bra in a 40c(or d i cant remember) which at the end i needed because my ribs or something expanded! ~~ This time i almost want to get something thats got a little more support and is nicer and made better... but i dont want to wear sports bras all summer long!! ** Has anyone bought bras from MOTHERWEAR.com?? I get their catalogs and they look nice... but it sucks that i cant try them on first!!!! So i would have to send back and wait if they dont fit... I dont know what to do but i am still wearing a T back barely there bra that i know is WAYYY too small... it really doesnt fit. The cups are way too small and therefore give me no support and the band size is very tight and uncomfortable... I am 16 weeks, |

i dont' think maternity bras are a waste of money, not if you breastfeed. you just need the right one. with my first baby the most comfortable one i had i suprisingly got at Walmart. the brand is BESTFORM! |

I outgrew all my bras fast too, but instead of the maternity bras I just bought ones from Target, they are cheaper and alot of them are softer and have better support (most impt). Plus as time goes on you'll outgrow them faster. I'm 28wks now and still growing. |

I got a few maternity bras at JC Penny's and they were comfortable and have held up fine. I like them. I paid about the same price for them as I would have for almost any other bra sold at penny's (I think around 20-25$). I bought them around 14w's and they did get a bit tight in the ribs around 28-30 w's, so I had to buy a couple more, but otherwise I've liked them and everything has been fine. Wear whatever you feel comfortable in though. |

Hi flipthea. I actually enjoy my maternity bras. I bought a couple at Motherhood maternity I really like them. Especially since I will be breast feeding I will get some use out of them. I generally wear a 38C and I bought some38E's (they don't go D,DD) and I bought one of their bra clasp extender things and it is awesome. I think the extra room from the extender is the key to comfort at this point for me. Goodluck on your search. You could always just go in and try one out. They will fit you also...I think that kinda helps. |

They ones at Motherhood seem so cheaply made, and they have almost no padding at all, which I am not a big fan of. I don't want my nips to show if I get cold, LOL! Plus, I like the ones that are slightly padded in the bottom because they make me feel like my boobs are being held up, not sagging, and therefore not getting any stretch marks, haha. |

c baer- i know what you mean about the padding at the bottom giving you support... so they arent sagging in your bra!! So if you didnt like motherhood bras (which i may get one or two... and they probably wont be the right size) where do you get yours??? |

Charee, I haven't bought one yet, though I did try some on at Victoria's Secret and they were uncomfortable. I usually just buy my bras at JcPenney's or something like that, and I probably will just buy a regular bra in a bigger size, not a maternity bra. |

I myself love maternity bras. Especially since I breastfeed. I forget where I got mine, but I loved it. It had great support, padding, and just was real comfy! I really think it depends on where you get them and even how you are built. |

You probably just want to find bras that are comfy and fit well. If you are planning to breast feed then shop for a nursing bra when you are about 8 months, by then your bbs will be closer to the size they will be when your milk comes in (yep they get bigger when the milk comes in) I have very large bbs to begin with so I have been wearing my normal bras so far, they don't really get bigger till later on and after my milk comes in. Like I said I would stick with ones that fit well for now. Good Luck! |
