Hi everyone. I am 17 weeks pregnant and it's my second pregnancy. I am showing already quite a bit - have gained 8 pounds so far. I am having a really hard time (not all the time) but just getting in a whole breath - I feel like my stomach is going to just blow up sometimes. Is it normal to feel like you are catching your breath sometimes? I didn't have this with the first and I have noticed that I am really carrying high this time - it's like my baby bump starts right under my boobs. With my son I carried a lot lower.......anyone else experience this feeling?

I have the same problem sometimes, its pretty frustrating but from everything I have read its really normal, I'm 16 weeks Monday so I'm only a little behind you. I also seem to be carrying pretty high and I dont know if that also makes it worse. But I think that it has something to do with the blood circulation, our heart has to pump a lot more volume of blood than its used to and so our heart/lungs are working pretty hard in there and makes it difficult to get in a breath at times. I'm shocked at how quick I get out of breath now just walking sometimes!

I'm 24 weeks and I get this too sometimes. It's really weird because I can walk on the treadmill for half an hour or swim laps for a while and be perfectly fine and then other times I can just walk upstairs to the bedroom and be totally out of breath! I think it partially depends on how the baby is positioned at the time. I really hate that feeling though of not being able to get in a full breath - it feels like my stomach is just going to rip apart!

yes! i had it almost through this whole time to. i'm 20 weeks. i read it's like asthma and more likely to happen if your preg with a girl. Sometimes i just have to stop everything and tell everyone to shut up so i can breathe, lol. But that's probably just because i seem to get sensitive to things going on around me, even when i am sick i can't listen to music or watch the music channel, it just upsets my stomach more,i;m weird i guess.
