Anyone experience this. I was in the shower a couple weeks ago and it felt like I was getting the wind knocked out of me. It scared me so I went to the ER and they said it was PVC at that it's very normal, but pregnant women feel it more. I don't like the feeling at all. Help!!!!

Yeah it happens actually quite commonly. I have actually been experiencing it for years, so much so that I really don't acknowledge it. But during pregnancy it does seem a bit stronger. It's like I go "wow, that was a good one!" I do have blood pressure that is at the very lowest of low/normal to begin with and being pregnant just makes it lower......... wonder if that causes it?

I have been experiencing pvc's since I was about 11wks pg. Its really uncomfortable...i feel them most right after I eat lunch for some reason.
I have read alot on it and it s VERY common and harmless w/pg women. I did not have this w/my first child at all...i thought maybe its b/c Im old!! lol.
Im 23 wks and its getting a little less frequent. Hang in there...its all the price we pay for these sweet babies I guess!

Oh, I am glad I am not the only one. It just triggers my anxiety because I keep thinking I am having a heart attack. I am 20 weeks today and it does happen alot after I eat. Thanks Girls :-)

LOL, you said heart attack and it brought back a memory........ROFL - wasn't funny then, but now. OMG, ok so my husband was doing work in the attic and during the course of the time he'd been up there (about 3 hours) he'd had 2 large dunkin donut coffees and a large mug from home. Well, I am the big coffee drinker in the family and that may have sent my heart into hyper drive. He starts having these heart palpitations and getting dizzy. I told him to relax and breath, that I get them sometimes and he needs to not stress otherwise it may get worse. So no, not him he insists he's having a heart attack, we pack up the 2 year old and I drive to the nearest emergency room the whole time in the car he's saying "honey, you know I love you, you know I always loved you" and I'm like "yeah, thats nice would you like me to start digging you grave too?" So we get to ER and he's waiting like 3 hours, finally I said "ok, I have to take her home, callme when you're done" He did 3 hours later to pick him up and guess what, the doc said "try to stick to one cup of coffee every 5 hours :} " He felt so foolish afterward. But thats him, I've been to the emergency room for him 7 times in 10 years. 3 hits to the head which required stitches, 2 bellyaches, 1 coffee attack, and 1 flu. This girls is why women give birth and not men..........

1 coffee attack....LOL. I get pvc's too and have for years. They are totally harmless and yes it seems like I have been getting them more since I've been pregnant. I'm glad that others are experiencing them too and it's not just me. I'm sure that we all are fine :)

I have had the skipped heartbeat thing quite often to and was a little worried. It does feel like your getting the wind knocked out, and then your heartrate starts thumping to catch up. It does seem scary but it is obviously normal, so many others have the same thing. The increased rate or skipped beats do no damage to your heart.

Allisonc79 - March 21st, 2007 12:35 AM

oh and don't worry about the heart attack thing because skipped beats and palpitations aren't really symptoms of one, it is only dangerous when its in the 12 beats a second range, or you feel really dizzy or experience strong chest pains, shortness of breath.

I had open heart surgery in 2001 and have been on medication to control my heartbeat ever since. It used to just beat really fast but lately (the last year) it starts skipping beats and its just bothersome, kinda takes your breath away. My cardiologist said its harmless but try to cough because it resets your rhythm. Maybe try it out and see if it works for you.

Coughing works great or if you drink cold, cold water.
