I'm 18 weeks and 1 day pregnant and I keep feeling what I think is movement but I'm not sure. I even have lower back pain which gets so bad I start crying. I'm a plus size woman I don't know if the lower back pain I'm getting is from my weight plus the weight from the baby or if it's from the baby kicking me. I've tried everything that I can think of to help but none of it works. What should I do?

If the pain is really bad I would try and see a physio. I am 17 weeks and started getting back and hip pain and I am not that big yet so this has concerned me. I have found that sleeping in different positions (ie. I can't lie on my back) has really helped. I have started using pillows and my husband as 'props' to like against so I can't roll onto my back. I also found that when it started getting sore i stiffened up and didn't move. I think that in my case it made it worse. I used to swim anyway, but had recently stopped. I have started to swim a couple of times a week and make an effort to stretch and move my body - ie I have started sitting on a ball so my pelvis is moving all the time etc. All of this has helped me, but I am sure every case is differenet. I think that if it is really so bad that you end up in tears I would see a physio. I can't believe that the baby would be kicking you hard enough to cause pain - especially at 18 weeks - if this is what you are thinking. They are themselves so 'soft' at this stage that you might feel a 'flutter' of movement but I wouldn't have thought direct acute pain... I am not experienced at this though! See you Doc or the PT! Good luck.

Thanks, I've used pillows between my knees which kind of help ease the pain but then sometimes it doesn't help at all. My fiancee sometimes cuddles up behind me which helps sometimes too. Thanks again for your advice.
