Ok, so what are we all doing about our winter gear now that its starting to get cold out (well here in Toronto anyway...) I went for a walk last night and needed a heavy coat, but could only do up the first few buttons from the top...LOL I thought this was quite hilarious, as I haven't thought about what to do with winter weather issues yet! I'm 26w3d now, so I can only imagine how fun this will be once I'm waddling around at Christmas time!!! Any suggestions? (Other than purchasing a new huge coat, cause I won't! LOL)

i am in Windsor, and it's starting to get cold. I will be 20 weeks on Monday and i know i will have to buy a pregnancy coat as well. Thje only good things is that i think we are suppose to have a mild winter. we'llsee. Good Luck....

Last year I deliverd in Novemeber. I was just wearing big sweatshirts and putting on my coat and leaving it undone for the most part. I never went very far though just in and out of places. This year I think I am just going to do the same thing I am always really warm when I am pregnant so the winter kind makes things alot more comfortable and at worse I will just wear one of my husbands cause I do not want to spend the money on a coat since this is probably my last baby. It is that cold in Toronto already. I live in Newfoundland it has just been raining here for the last month damp but still nice.

I wore my hubby weatshirts when it got cold when i was pregnant with my daughter.

Kristin11 - October 27th, 2006 9:48 AM

Hey my mom gave me this cape thing, I am going to wear one of my dhs fleeces underneath and that on top.. like dedaa I don't plan on staying outside much just in and out of places. Kim

Exactly - I'm not making a huge effort to go play in the snow or anything, but like to walk sometimes after dinner especially and its damn cold out! hahaha

shannon5980 - October 27th, 2006 11:56 AM

I purchased a coat at the goodwill that was a couple sizes to big...it only cost me 7 dollars..money well spent

Kristin11 - October 27th, 2006 12:01 PM

good idea shannon, i bet it looked better then my hubbys sweat shirts did on me lol. They were tight in the tummy and baggy in the shoulders (my daughter was born in dec)

chrissi79 - October 27th, 2006 1:36 PM

Hey Shannon that's a great idea, never thought!!!!! Thx!

my mil is a big lady, so I'll borrow one of her old coats if I get desperate. But my dh has lots of coats and sweaters I can steal until then! I also have this wool coat that goes past the knees! I can't wait to wear it with the bottom buttons undone and my belly poking out. Too cute! But it's just a dress coat and not the best for dog walking at 25 below! LOL!

mamagoose - October 27th, 2006 5:12 PM

I've just started having the same problems... we don't get that cold in Vancouver, but we do get a LOT of rain, so I was imagining myself going around until January with dry shoulders and a wet belly! I've started borrowing my hubby's gortex, but I think it will eventually come to golf umbrellas. I don't want to spend $$ on a coat I'll only wear for 3 months!

crystal74 - October 27th, 2006 6:20 PM

i know about this one, i just spent $160.oo last year on a new babyphat fur coat and it doesn't fit. i told my hubby needs to buy me a new jacket. cuz sweaters just don't cut it in this cold. i'm in oregon.

Sonrisa - October 27th, 2006 9:03 PM

I was having this conversation with my mother. She is heavier than me so she is buying herself a new coat and giving me the one she uses since it will be bigger on me and I will return it next season. I can only button the top two buttons as well on my coat. I hope that using my mother's coat will work.

Sonrisa - October 27th, 2006 9:06 PM

I like the idea of going to a consignment shop of good will...never thought of that. I would ask around and borrow a coat from someone that is bigger than you. You will need a coat in Toronto. My big concern is when I head up to Maine for the holidays...like Toronto it is really much colder there than in VA. I can get away with a big sweater and leaving the coat open for most of the winter here.

Tammy276 - October 28th, 2006 12:12 AM

I live in WI and everyone that knows WI know it gets COLD and snowy! I hate winter...One coat (my nice leather one) doesn't fit me anymore. Well, I can button the buttons as long as I stand still, but as soon as I move, they pop open. I am hoping my columbia jacket will last me a while. it still has some room in it, so I am hoping it will get my by. If not, I will just wearing my husbands... I am not going to go out and buy a coat that I will only wear for a few months. It was nice w/ my first pregnany because I was due In October, so I could get away with just wearing a sweatshirt to keep warm...don't think that will work for the winter time :)
