I've read its ok to do some painting while pregnant, as long as the paint is either mercury free latex or water based....and the area should be well ventelated and you should take breaks. We've started our nursery decorating, and I helped my hubby for a while last night. Didn't overdo it at all, just leisurely, and I made sure that I left often and had the windows open. Anyone else painted at all? Or been told otherwise?

You've heard the same things I've heard. As long as you're not using oil-based paint OR sanding/scraping off old paint that has lead in it, you should be OK.

Yes, that's what I thought...I was feeling bad about doing some of it last night, but I really don't think its a problem if I'm taking it easy with and making sure its well ventalated. Thx :)

Look into purchasing some non-toxic totally safe paint. It costs more, but you can rest assured that it is completely safe and it won't be off-gassing like other paints. We bought AFM Safecoat Paint for our bedroom and will be using the same for the nursery. You can find dealers at their website: www.afmsafecoat.com. I highly recommend it! Our indoor air pollution is just as important (if not more) than our outdoor air pollution. It costs a bit more, but is worth it!
