I am having some pretty bad cramps and it goes around to the lower back too...its extremely uncomfortable and I would say like reeally bad menstrual cramps. I am 16 weeks on Monday. Is it normal to have cramps this bad this far along? I havent had them for at least 6 weeks, I just always wonder what I need to be considering an emergency and what I need to relax about.

I'm 22 weeks and I get them too.

I have been having those off and on for awhile, the thing I do is drink lots of water and lay in a comfortable position for awhile. It usually helps. You can voice your concern at your next doctor visit, just make sure you don't begin to bleed or anything like that, then it would be an emergency!
My friend had terrible cramps throughout her pregnancy, and there was not much that could be done for her. Her daughter is very healthy though, so no complications there.
Try and relax and best wishes to you :)

thank you so much! what a relief...i cant afford to go to the ER unless its truuuly an emergency so its really comforting to know this is probably just a normal thing. im just trying to relax until it goes away.

Hey margie - same thing happened to me last weekend. We have had a very difficult pregnancy. (I lost one baby in an ectopic and the second baby is doing well now!)...my hubby and I were driving along and then all of a sudden I got such bad cramping. It shot down my leg - it felt like bad bad period cramps. I got so upset and with all the complications I just began crying etc...so worried you know? So i did what HeavenIsMine did - lay down - well actually I went to bed for 2 hours and woke up and the pain was gone...I lay on my left side and it went so fast....I guess it's normal but I hear ya - it's scary....all these twitches and twangs are a part of it I guess! Hang in there...!

Yeay Margie! You're in your second trimester, I didn't even realize that until yesterday, and I came on here just to find you!! I'm so happy for you!!! About those cramps, they might be braxton hicks contractions already. I started having bh's at 17 weeks with my daughter, and this one only at 22wks. They are quite uncomfortable and crampy. But most of the time, they are normal, just make sure you drink LOTS OF WATER. Sometimes women get bh's because of dehydration, that was the explanation my doc gave me. So try to rest and drink water as much as you can. I know it's a pain, because we already have to pee every 5 minutes, now more water?? lol. Good luck! Btw, I'll be 29wks on sunday.

I have started getting BH contractions too, they can be uncomfortable, and I just sit for a moment take deep breaths. They just feel like your stomach is tightening up. It stinks! But water can help with those most definitely, woo hoo!
