how many times a day do you guys keep a kickcount. is the kickcount supposed to be done when the baby is active in some particular part of the day or anytime?.

You will probably find it easier to count right after you eat - that's when your baby gets a burst of energy that's when my doctor told me to do it - or right after you have been very active and are lying down. Drink something though if you haven't eaten. Juice or water something to get the little one energized! Hope that helps.

To answer your question I made sure I did it at least once a day - but your doctor will probably tell you to check at least 2 times once in the morning and once in the evening.

I've read that its unneccesary to keep a kick chart. that every baby is different and in the beginning it's hard to see a pattern and you'll end up giving yourself unneccesary anxiety about the chart. plus kickcharts are supposed to be kept later on after six months. Also, i've read it's suggested that you more so try and notice patterns of movements when the baby is awake and how long you feel it moving for. since everyone is different there is no right pattern. so i opted not to keep track of kicks but just to sit back and enjoy them when i do feel them.

I find that my baby starts kicking and moving at night when I get into bed or in the afternoon when I take a break and relax on the couch. This is my fourth baby and to be perfectly honest I never have kept a kick chart. I just make sure that I feel the baby daily and that doesn't seem to be a problem later on in the pregnancy cuz there is no getting around feeling that babes a moving.... hope it helps.

I'm now 32 weeks along and thought that I would share with you what my doc told me. You can start your kick counts at round about 26 weeks, by then you should know more or less when you baby's active times are. And yes twice a day, I do mine round about 11am and then again late afternoon between 6 and 8pm. Good luck hun, hope this helps :-))

at my last appointment when I was 34 weeks my midwife asked if I was having as much movement, I answered that there was a decrease in movement but I just put this down to the baby running out of space, she said as long as I could count at least 10 movements in 12hours say from 9am-9pm, then this was ok!
