congrats onyour boy! i'm not sure what the do in america, but here we have to drink some sort of powdered glucose (sugar) mixed in with some water and it tastes pretty bad, they let us put some lemon in it so it won't be so gross, but it doesn't help. and then you hang around for a while and then the do a blood test. sorry if that wasn't so specific, but i haven't done it in a while. good luck!

hey bj... congrats.. i am 21 weeks on baby boy #2... at a glucose test you drink a bottle of liquid that tasts like orange crush then get a blood test.. just make sure when you go for that test that you bring someone to drive you home... the liquid has alot of sugar in it and it may make you dizzy...or wired...lol

i don't know if they changed it since jenn95 last had one..or if in different places they use different things... i know where i live they use the orange soda type deal now and it's not too bad at all.

Also, difference offices have different flavors, cola, lime or orange. I got of course the one Id idn't want to get, cola, but it was ice cold and really wasn't bad at all. It didn't make me feel sick either. Good luck!

I'm getting my glucose test done tomorrow, I have a fruit punch flavored drink that I need to take an hour before my appointment..the nurse said she was just going to prick my finger to get the blood for the test.

You're lucky if all they need to do is prick your finger... they took two vials of blood from me to test! Good thing I did my test before all this Halloween candy showed up!

BJ, just so you don't make the same mistake I did... I wasn't told to fast, even on the sheet that they gave me, and I ate a Nutri Grain bar that morning. Well, of course I got a call back that my levels were a little high, and I had to go back for a three-hour glucose test where they had to draw FOUR TUBES of blood. -- one every hour. My levels came back normal, thank goodness. Just save yourself the money and the blood and don't eat anything that morning.
