I have wanted to be pregnant for a long time. When i know i am ovulating, i have sex with my man but it doesn't work out.
My cycle in 18 days and i kind of feel ovulation coincides with menstraution. Is that possible? Can i get pregnant while having sex during menstruation?

No. ovulation and menstruation do not happen simultaneously. If your cycle is only 28 days, it sounds as though you may have a luteal phase defect. On average a cycle should be at least 28 days. This allows for the time your body needs to complete all the components of reproductive cycle. You need to have at least a week for your body to prepare to ovulate after af, then at least 13 days from ovulation to menstruation...these are key factors to being able to conceive. Your body has to have to time to rebuild the blood rich lining you sloughed out the last AF, time to allow for the several day up to 10 day journey of a fertilized egg to reach the uterus, and time enough to build up adequate hormone to sustain an implanted egg. This cannot be done in an 18 day cycle, sure an egg could get fertilized, but your body would be flushing out the necessary blood rich lining by the time your egg got to your womb. This short luteal phase (number of days from ovulation to menstruation) would simply just result in the fertilized egg being unable to be nourished by your womb and would die. I would personally recommend consulting right away with your ob about your abnormally short cycles. You may require hormone supplementation or some possible treatment for any reproductive disorder you may suffer from? Seeing your ob about your cycle length is the first step I would recommend if you are wishing to conceive. Sorry, I wish I had better news to share with you. You may also want to start tracking your fertility signs using an online tool like www.fertilityfriend.com , it is free and you will need this information for any fertility treament/consultation with your ob or other specialists...it will make their job easier and faster. You can start tracking at any time during your cycle. Lots of good information at that site. The tracking tools for charting are free, but the message forum and advanced features are not. I hope this is helpful for you! God bless you and those you love!

Thanks for the reply KATZZIIZ. I stumpled on a Book titled "LOVE AND LIFE" yesterday written by a Nigerian women and i found something concerning about this issue. It talked about short cycles and the case of the 18 days cycle was explained there as well. From it i understand that since the period is short, menstruation can commence while ovulation is starting as well. And in usually occurs on the first day of menses when the blood is still very fresh. I wish to try this experiment as soon as possible and share my ideas with you all. Thanks once more katziiz.
