I came off the pill 6 months ago. Going into my 7th month now. Had 4 regular 32 day cycles then the 5 was 38 days so i thoght that was just late. This month have now had a 42 day cycle. Feel so down because i dont know why they are so late. Been reading that the later your cycles then the less likely you are to conceive. Im stressed, dont konw whether to go to the doctor or just wait. Have had such sore nipples for a week so i kind of thought i was pregnant this month as i've never had this before. I've asked my friends and nobody can help me please somebody give me some advice?

Hi Meryl, I know how you feel as my cycles have been messed up too since i came of the pill a year ago and i believe it happens to many women and can take a year or more to sort out. My cycles seem to be settling now at about 32-35 days but they are still not what they were before i went on the pill. I've not heard that the later your cycles are the less likely you are to concieve, I am hoping that is not true myself. Have you had your period this month or are you still 42 days and waiting? If you are i think you should test as it sounds like there is a possibility you could be pregnant and then at least you know. Stress and coming of the pill can do funny things to the body though and sore nipples can also be a pre-menstrual symptom so i guess its 50/50 and all you can do is test and put your mind at rest. let us know, hope you are ok sweetie xxxxx

Yes did a test on day 40 but it was negative. Then i got my period today. Have your periods got longer and then back short just worrying that mine are going to get longer and longer. Do you think it is worth going to the doc to get some tablets for it? xxxx

My cycles have been seriously weird, i have a few fairly normal length ones but also a few really long ones, like almost 2 months. The first time it happened and i got negative pregnancy tests i went to the doctor and she basically told me it would take a year of me having irregular cycles before they would investigate it...but i think it is worth going to your doctor now and reporting it, seeing what they say and if they tell you to wait and see then at least they know you reported the problem and if its ongoing they have a timeline. Im not sure about tablets....I guess you could try charting and trying to check if your ovulating first? its not something i have experience with yet but i know a lot of the girls on here do it and it might help you know when is best to try and catch your egg as your cycles are irregular right now. Also my cycles do seem to be shortening now and forming a regular pattern so i'd say it could be just a matter of time and allowing your body to adjust without the pill, but everyones different xx
