It can be either way. A day or two after sex I have a thick clear mucous discharge. At about 26 weeks pregnant, I started getting a white lotion-like discharge that is heavy enough that I have to use pantiliners. The strange thing is, I've had discharge like both of these when I wasn't pregnant.
