Hi Anna B. and SJF! Sorry I couldn't respond sooner, I'm actually sneaking on at work! Anna B. - your dh doesn't need to come in for the IUI...they are having us "collect" at home and then bring it in right away. They then do the "wash", which takes about an hour and then perform the procedure. SJF - I'm seeing a fertility specialist. When I told my OB that we were having some problems she just referred me right away. This is only my first try with Clomid so I'm hoping that in combo with the IUI will have some success! We're going on 9 months TTC so I'm getting really impatient and really tired! So is DH! Dancegirl - Congrats on the follies! Isn't it bizarre to know what's happening in your body? I had my U/S this morning to check my follicle size and there are four big ones. Kinda freaked me out but figure if just ONE of them can get the job done then I'm happy! By the time we all get our BFP's we'll all experts in the fertility field! Whew, what a learning experience! |

bing, that sounds like a great plan. i wasn't sure whether we would do the iui this time around. it costs $400 so i think we'll wait this month out and see what happens on our own. if we don't get prego, at least i know i got the clomid to work and then next month we will do the IUI. but i've heard great success stories due to IUI. i know, i feel so knowledgeable about all this stuff since i read up on it ocnstantly. bing, what size were your follicles ? mine were both at 19 mm. so i guess in the next few days i'll O. my doc called and said based on my blood it's still a little early so we'll bd again tomorrow night and then go in to check the follicles and blood again on friday. hopefully by the weekend i'll have o'd and i can be on the 2 week wait. it's been so long since i've been able to even be on the 2 week wait. i reeeeeeeeeally hope this is our month. my dh is 41 and not getting any younger. i'm only 27 so not big of a rush for me but i want him to be around in our children's lives for as much as possible. mg, i did clomid before my HSG too. they said to try the clomid and if no success with ovulating but not getting prego, then they would do the HSG. but i insisted they do it anyway. but i don't think it's bad that you do clomid first. sounds like that's standard procedure. so bing, four big ones, huh ? i only have 2. what do they about follicles versus twins, etc. is 2 likely to produce twins ? |

The best thing to do is not get stressed about it. Don't you just hate it when people tell you to relax and it will happen. I think sometimes it is really hard not to think about it when it is so long that we are ttc. I haven't gotten reffered to a specialist yet, I think that is the next step. But I really pray that I don't even have to go there. I pray it happens this month and I won't have to worry about seeing a specialist at all. I guess that is prayful thinking. Does anyone know if an iui hurts? And does you dh have to go with you for it? |

sjf, i know, that's the one thing i hate hearing most ! and everyone says it. when you stop worrying about is when it will happen. yeah, well not if i'm not ovulating on my own it won't ! nobody seems to understand that simply not stressing out doesn't bring ovulation on. some people need help and not just a simple "relax and everything will be fine". yikes, sorry for venting, but i really hate that :-) yes, maybe our clomid club will have a lucky month this time around ! baby dust to us all ! |

Hi girls! We sure are all chatty today - LOL! Our thread needs some luck - we still haven't had a BFP here. I think we are all due for our's this month and we will all get our Christmas presents!!! Kristina - when do you start using the OPKs? I might go pick some up. I'm on cd 6 - tonight I take my last Clomid. Thank goodness b/c the hot flashes at night are getting annoying! It does seem like we're all about the same place in our cycles - I'm a week behind you two. OH - I REALLY get sick of the people saying "relax and it will happen". How can you possibly relax and let it happen when we are taking drugs to help us, we have doctor's appts to check to make sure it is working, taking our temps, etc etc etc! Sorry, I had to join in the venting! :) |

confession, i find myself somtimes looking on the internet for pics of pregnant celebraties. for one i get so jealous that they can just go and get prego, married or not, just b/c they feel like it. with no struggle. of course i know some struggle as with brooke, but people like brittany and katie and angelina. just get prego on a whim. but i still am obsessed with seeing prego photos of them. anyone else ???? |

mg, i know, living your life in 2 week periods of disappointemnt, then excitement, then confusion around O time. the emotional rollercoaster is nuts ! ok, so now i'm mildly freaking out b/c i have 2 dominant follicles right now. one at 19mm and one at 17 mm. i thinkt here's a really good possibility that that could rsult in twins. i think. anyone have any knowledge on this ???? yikes, although it would be wonderful no matter how many kids we have, it will most certainly be a financial strain not too mention my poor dh who is planning on taking care of the baby during the day while i'm at work. ack ! |

I really dont know anything about the follical thing, but I would think that even if you have two ripe and ready, that both may not be fertilized. But who knows, oyu could only have one egg and still get twins. I had a friend who did IVF and implanted 3 embryos, with hopes of one surviving. Not only did all three survive, but one of the embroys divided and they ended up with 4 babies!!! They didnt even know about the fourth untill the birth day!! Plus I have heard that twins are better babies then singles.LOL |

Hi everyone! I got the results back from my HSG and my doctor says I have a polyp in my uterus : { He says it is small but can still interfere with implantation(however it is really unknown, no proof of this really happening, just a logical deduction) so he wants to remove it before we do IUI. So here I am on CD 15 ready to ovulate and now I have to wait till early next cycle to get this thing removed! BUT he did say that it is still possible to get pregnant, which is why he wants to wait until early in my next cycle to remove it (so we don't hurt a pregnancy if it happens anyway!). So I am still in the game this month! Yeay! Oh yeah, my doctor said we would do IUI and Clomid right out of the gate too. Maybe it depends on your RE or OB/GYN's time spent doing infertility and the longer they have been involved the more shortcuts they know? |

You girls that have more than one follicle, are they all from one ovary or do both ovaries have follices maturing? |

Hi girls! Sorry...couldn't log on again until now! I completely agree with you all on the whole "relax and it'll happen" statement. People who usually say that are pretty ignorant about what you're going through. Plus, it implies that YOU'RE the cause of not getting pregnant. Dancegirl -19 is a great size... it sounds like we're on the same schedule! I think my follicles ranged from 19-20...so I think by Friday we'll be ready to go! My bloodwork showed I wasn't quite there yet, but definitely in the next day or so. She did mention the possibility of Clomid producing twins, and twins also run in my family - which is why I got a little anxious when I saw there were four follicles...but that doesn't necessarily mean that all of them will take so I'm not going to stress it just yet! I think I'd rather had 2 right away and be done with it since I'm already behind schedule! I actually wished I started ttc when I was 27...then I wouldn't feel like I need to hurry. I lost a year ttc since I injured my back and had surgery (2nd one) so technically I'm 2 years behind my plan! I think my doctor is more agressive in her approach because I'm extreeeeeeeemly lucky in that my insurance covers infertility. That may be the reason why the doctors are taking it step by step in your cases. I think you're right, Tonia, it probably depends on the doctor and what approach they've had success with. MG- I had to laugh about your dh and the whole bd'ing schedule! My dh is actually like, "OK..DON'T wake me up at midnight again tonight because you want to fool around!" He says this was a twinkle in his eye so I know he secretly loves it! Ahhhh, men..they're not fooling anybody. |

Tonia, I have two on the left and two on the right. The ones on the left are supposedly the ones that'll release first due to their size. The ones on the right aren't much smaller than the left though. |
