I can't help but wonder HOW depo works.... I know that, often, women on DEPO have NO period at all for years at a time... but WHAT makes your period stop? Does it build up? does it prevent the lining from building up? I thought that it tricked your body so that it thinks you are already pregnant so you don't ovulate... but I have NO idea where that idea came from... so WHAT goes on in there when you take that shot...

I am not sure. If you wanna get pregnant soon dont take it. I had 2 shots and have been ttc for 7 months. I used to be fertile mertile.

I was on it for a few years... and since have had problems.... but I just want to know what it does to your body... HOW it works....

I found this.... "How does it work to prevent pregnancy?
It inhibits the secretion of hormones that stimulate the ovaries. This prevents ovulation. It also thickens your cervical mucus to prevent the entrance of sperm into the uterus."

So... what are the effects that not ovulating for 4 years can have on you? is is a good way to "save" your eggs for later? ( I doubt that honestly. ) What about it thickening the mucus?
