I Have Had My Period Twice This Month. What Is Going On?

It is basically in the same month, since November just started. i had my first period around October 18th and it ended a couple days later, then today I come home from work and i notice I started my period again. this has never happened before. i have usually been regular and even if i haven't, it has never ever been this bad. i am 20,i have been sexually active after my first period ended and we haven't used protection, if that has anything to do with this. i am not sure what is going on. could anyone help me, it would be greatly appreciated.
