[Original Post]

Just remember I am in AUSSIE LAND so we are i day ahead of you, it is Sunday 5th today. and i have had postive opks' since Friday, so that is 3 +opks, they seem to be all as 'clear' as each other, so first Question is.. is it normal to have positives for 3 days or what??? Also I normally take my temp about 5.45am, but this morning i woke at 5.00 and i took it (just in case i didn't go back to sleep) and it was 36.19, but I did go back to sleep straight away and woke to my alarm at 5.45 and took temp. again and it was 36.39..so second question is which temp do i note, the first one or the one at 'normal wake time'. FF says to use normal wake time if you do take an earlier one and go back to sleep, but I was only asleep for 45mins before taking the second one....what do you all think??

riss - November 4th, 2006 11:52 PM

BTW my chart is http://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/143577. I have noted todays temp as the first one taken...36.19. Thanks in advance

I've had an almost positive followed by two positives in a row before. I don't know how common that is, but I don't think it's particularly strange. I say just use your normal time temp *unless* you got out of bed and moved around a bit when you woke the first time. In any case, you'll probably see a higher temp tomorrow anyway, so in the worst case scenario, you'll know that O day was either yesterday or today. That's still a good approximation. So where in Oz are you? I've got family over there.

riss - November 5th, 2006 2:12 AM

I am in Queensland Lin, Where is your family?? Thanks for answering, also I thought that a positive opk pretty much says you will ovulate, but i read somewhere just before, that is not the case and that you can get a postive result but not necessarily ovulate, why i am concerned is that i don't have much, if any cm, i have tried checking internally (don't love that) but still don't think there is much there really, Probably feels wetter at the time of ovulation but not really what i would discribe as egg-white. Could i still ovulate even without ewcm. Thanks

krissy2006 - November 5th, 2006 10:36 AM

Riss, you can absolutely ovulate without EWCM or even watery CM. These are only for the transportation of sperm, like semen. Except semen doesn't enter the uterus so the spermies need other mode of transport. It may very well be that you aren't feeling it but you have it anyway. it just hasn't exited your cervix. I don't know much about OPKs as I have never used them. But you can be sure (Lin) that I will be asking tons of questions come next cycle should this one still not result in BFP. BTW Lin, do you still think I haven't O'd? I have asked you everywhere here and you haven't responded! Unless I just haven't gotten there yet. TTY ladies soon ~Krissy

Thanks Krissy, you have made me feel much better about things. you must be getting so excited to be going home, not long now YEH!. Check out my chart and see if you think i ovulated yesterday when ever. http://www.fertilityfriend.com./home/143577. thanks girls you have been alot of help.

My family's in Melbourne (dh's family actually - that's where he grew up). I'd *love* to go up to Queensland. I haven't seen any of it yet, though I'm sure I will sometime. I spent several months in Canberra (great place, despite what all the Aussies say about it) and have spent altogether, if you add up the trips, probably a couple months in Melbourne. I've visited Sydney a couple times, too, and Hobart once. I love Australia. Of any country I've ever been to, it's the closest culturally to my own home (California), but yet it's still a different country and still has so much new to offer. At the same time, it's much more like home than some US states! Anyway, as for cm - that's not really a good indicator of ovulation. Some women never have ewcm but still ovulate every month. I've ovulated every month since I quit the pill over a year ago, but I've only had substantial ewcm a couple times (and our fertility problems are male factor, not me). After looking at your chart, I'd say that you probably ovulated yesterday. Just wait and see - I bet you'll se a substantial rise over the next couple days. Krissy - sorry, I've missed your questions! Regarding your chart, it's really hard to say. Your post-O temps are definitely higher than your pre-O temps but the difference is not as large as it is for most people. I'm very glad to hear that you'll be using opks next month. I'm curious to see how your + opks coincide with your temps. The only thing that really disturbs me about your chart this month is that you've had two temps in a row below the coverline. That's unusual. I'd like to compare it to your last chart, but you've got so many open circles on it, it's hard to trust it. Best of luck to both of you!

Grandpa Viv - November 5th, 2006 6:40 PM

Right, OPKs alone do not guarantee ovulation, but the temperature rise you now show on 4th and 5th confirms that you did. BD any time last weekend was on target. The lack of ewcm is not likely to be a problem, though that is why women use Robitussin http://www.babyhopes.com/articles/robitussin.html (no hyphens). Good luck!

Lin - November 5th, 2006 9:16 PM

I just thought I'd add that another thing to try besides the Robitussin (or generic - what you want is the ingredient guaifenesin) is Evening Primrose Oil. I tried Robitussin, and it didn't really do anything for me, though others have reported good results, but the EPO really improved my ewcm. The first month I took it, I had four straight days of huge amounts of ewcm, and I normally don't have any.

riss - November 5th, 2006 9:51 PM

Thanks so much lin, Krissy and Grandpa Viv, you have been so much help and eased my mind about ovulation, cause i was quite worried that i wasn't, but you guys reckon i have due to temp rise (even though not a big rise)so that is huge to have that confirmed. Hopefully we caught eggy we couldn't get a bd in on sunday due to being out then my hubby was on a late shift that afternoon till this morning, so heres hoping hey. If no luck this month will try robitussin or Evening Primrose Oil. But i really apprecitate your help. Lin, Melbourne is a lovely city, havn't been down there for couple of years, my dh has relatives down there and my cousin has just moved down there so we want to do a shopping trip (girls only) as it is great for shopping. HEHE $$$$$$$$. Well ttyl, Nerissa

Another question girls. Ok, a bit of back ground info. After my ds, five years ago, my af took on a pattern of one week brown, then 1 week red, i went to my gyno and he put me on the pill to regulate it, which it did. So in June this year i went off the pill and started having my period that reverted back to the old pattern, 1 week brown, one week red. I am due for AF (the week it starts red) on the 17th. My question is if i am pregnant this month will i still get that 1 week of brown (which will start this Friday)? If i do get it, is it a sure sign that i am not pregant or because it is old blood will it appear even if i am pregnant. Might be a hard question as this is probably not a common problem, but any insight would be great. Thanks

riss - November 6th, 2006 4:06 PM

~bump~

Lin - November 6th, 2006 4:19 PM

Wow, I really have no idea. I guess it depends on exactly what is causing the brown. I assume you're only counting the red as your period, because that's what makes sense with your ovulation date according to your charts?

riss - November 6th, 2006 5:14 PM

The previous few months i have counted from the day it turns brown and called that cd1, so we have been bd a week too early, but this month i have counted cd1 when it turns red and it makes a little more sense ik think as FF says i ovulated on cd16. Oh well, just that "wait and see" thing i guess. Thanks anyway.
