javidsgirl, I don't think I've ever seen a woman on this forum comment on another woman's infertility. If you're referring to my comment to ITSABOY the other day that she shouldn't have posted on the infertility board, that is a completely different story. Had she been diagnosed with infertility, then that's one thing, but she would have said that. Being diagnosed with PCOS or male factor or blocked tubes, etc. IS infertility no matter what time it occurs, but trying for 8 months and getting pregnant is NOT infertility. There is a reason that 1 year definition exists, and it's a statistical one. At 6 months of ttc, 60% get pregnant and 40% don't. At 9 months, 75% get pregnant and 25% don't. The likelihood of *not* getting pregnant after 9 months is still quite large - that's 1 in 4 women. By the time a year is up, the likelihood of not getting pregnant is only 10% (1 in 10 women), and if you've been charting that whole time, it's even lower. It is a statistical cutoff and one that makes sense. In fact, many women who make it to a year aren't even necessarily infertile and have just had poor luck, though most that make it long are indeed dealing with infertility.
