Download, install and run a spyware program such as AdAware from http://www.lavasoft.de If that doesn't help, buy or borrow Norton WinDoctor and clean up you registry.

Also go to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com and get the latest downloads. Finally check out your system for viruses. There's a free virus program at http://www.avast.com
