I don't think that he can just signhis rights over if you dont wanthim too.. Just takehim to court and makehim pay for his baby. He had fun making the baby it's time he stepped up and took careof his responsibilities. But thisdoes mean that hewill have rights. Do you wanthim inthe babies life?? If you don't really then maybe him giving uphis rights is the best thing. Can youdo this on your own? Do you have a supporting family? All the best. |

oh he can sign his rights over alright. Which means he isnt a father, he dosnt have to pay a single thing forever. If you ever need anything, help with doctors bills, school, anything, he dosnt have to help you. But that also means, if he wants to see his child in the future, he will have to take you to court. He is selfish if he signs his rights over but it may teach him a lesson too. GL |

Well i dont want him to sign his rights away.. because i do need help, and i do want him to be a part of his kids life, i just dont want him to be having an anger problem around my child.. I didnt know if you had to have permission to sign rights away or if you can just do it like 1.2.3. |

He cannot give up his rights if you want for him to pay child support. I looked into having my baby's father sign his rights away (he's worthless and I don't want for him to have any rights if he's not going to be emotionally involved). The courts WILL NOT allow that to happen, even in my case. I would have to prove that there was someone lined up to adopt the child because the court system favors "two parent families." This is how it is in my state--I don't know about yours, but I DO know that if you take him to court, he WILL have to pay. |

I am in California and here, a father cannot terminate his rights/responsibilities unless there is an adoptive parent---a spouse or a domestic partner in place. even if the mother agrees. But since you want support, you are certainly entitled, without a doubt you will win support. You should be able to get free legal advice from your county courthouse--call the Family Law court and ask, they can help you out with what you need to know. good luck! |

No sweetheart he can't give up his right just like that I don't see why he can't pay child support. I know in Louisiana if he doesn't pay after so long and he has a job they will garnish his work checks. But you will have to pursue your case. |

Sounds to me like he's immature and just doesn't want to pay child support. If he wants to sign his rights away LET HIM cause he will be sorry later. |
