Hi I have just come across some alternate to insurance. Discount Medical Cards; lots of companies are offereing them. They cover pre existing conditions because its not really insurance but a discount on medical services if you go to doctors in their network. If your dr is not in their network you can ask if they would join so that you could get the discount. I know there is a Maternity Card-- I looked into that one but it did not sound like the one for me. The lady I spoke to was very helpful and even gave good suggestions on what I should be looking for in dr and hospital. I was able to save myself at least that much, but that was because I was persistant and didnt mind doing all the leg work myself. Ameriplan is another company that offers this service, I am sure there are many others. I haven't read any pro or cons about it. They all claim to be able to save you about 80%. There is a membership fee and a monthly fee. I guess its worth a try! Hope this helps.

I work in a medical office, and you can apply for and get medicaid, it will cover all charges except, if you have a baby boy and you want circumsision, that cost is around $225. go to your local department of human resorces and they can give you all the info you need, you'll be able to get food stamps and wic as well. Most clinics will give free pregnancy tests if you call and ask, besides if you get help from the state you will need a signed paper from a doctor stating that you are pregnant. If you are currently working you may not get any paid maturnity leave, however you will have to have maturnity leave, and your job cannot fire you... thats job discrimination. any more questions please ask. I went through the same thing on my own, i'm a single mom, I had nothing when I found out I was pregnant. no job, and b/f was cheating on me. needless to say i kicked him to the curb and got smart and begun asking question just like you are. good luck

hi, this is for babe. i applied for wic overses in germany and i thought its an army thing but its not( i am german so i didnt know about wic). anyway there is nothing embarrassing about it. it was normal for armypeople to use the checks and if you re eligible then take it.

does anybody know if you need to be a citizen to apply for medicaid and other programs?

i didnt have insurance either but luckily i knew of a obgyn clinic that was free, try calling places that say Womens Health Clinic, theyll help you. I didnt have insurance for 5 months of my pregnancy!! I just went to the free clinic & they werent supposed to take me in b/c i had no insurance but they knew that i was tryin to get insurance b/c yeah they wont take you if you have pre existing. I applied for AiM(Access for Infants & Mothers) for those who make a lil more money that what MediCal income requirements are. I got rejected by Aim cause i didnt make as much as AiM would need so they do this thing where they foward youre application to Medical, it takes 45 days but its better than never. So try Medi-Cal!!! i finally got mine but it sucks cause i dont have insurance for me but just for the baby so hopefully they'll give you a better health plan than what they gave me...so search engine up those two health insurance places, you will get one of those for your prenantal care, GUARANTEED

No you dont have to be a US citizen to receive medic-aid if you are in the US. Its considered emergency medicaid but it only lasts 6 weeks after you have the baby but it covers dental, eyes and medical including delivery.

I have a similar problem, I may be pregnant. I have now skipped a period, and my last one was so light and short, you could barely call it a period. I've been turned down by doctors offices for not having insurance or the hundreds of dollars they want up front for office fees. If I'm not pregnant, something is wrong, and they were all to quick to send to me to planned parenthoods website for help... Alot of good that does you, they will pee test you, tell you how to prevent it or get rid of it, but really can't do much to find out what the problem is if it isn't a baby. You're just as good to browse web md and take a take home pee test from cvs. I need care, not apathy and disdane. WHERE DO I GO? Who offers the care you need, without asking for a payment for their bmws and yachts before they see you?

Take a pregnancy test. If it is positive, go to Planned Parenthood for confirmation. They will give you a form that will be used as proof of pregnancy. Then call your local Health Department for a referral for Medicaid at which time you will need the Proof of Pregnancy form. While you are waiting for the insurance to go through, you will be given a form that will indicate that you are approved for Medicaid and most doctors will see you without charge then backdate the bills to Medicaid. I work at a health department and it is usually about the same process from state to state. Begin taking a prenatal vitamin (you can get them OTC) asap. good luck.
