Seperate Birth Certificate

I have been hearing that if you are not married you get a different birth certificate. I want my child's father to be noted on the birth certificate.

One possible down side about having the father on the birth certificate is that if anything happens to you, he has custody preferences. Surely the father has to agree at the time, we can't have women naming random guys to fatherhood. In these DNA days, you can prove paternity if there is a problem with child support.
