I am Kaity, I am a 16 year old, almost 17, June 24th 1992 is my birth date... Me and my lover had sex May 2nd 2009, and today is May 5th 2009, on May 6th, I started feeling very akward, like severe headaches, leg cramps, regular cramps, major fatigue, nausea, my breasts are a little tender and my nipples have gotten darker colored, and now my nose is very runny, I've never had that happen before either. I also know that I was about to start my period, I don't know if you can get pregnant right before, but it's very hard for me, my lover doesn't know yet, only my sister and my brother, whom I trust very much. Just please give me advice, about everything, and especially hoe I am going to tell my parents. My dad lives in California, my mom does too but 5 hours away, and I live in Washington State, I'm so confused and scared, thank you for helping!

Well normally you ovulate 14 days before your period is due, so I doubt that you got pregnant on the 2nd. Now if your period was due sometime this week and you had sex anywhere between the 19th to the 25th of april then you very well could be pregnant. Did you have sex anywhere within that week? And are you sure you are calculating your expected period right. I mean those could be signs of pregnancy but they also could be signs of malnutrition like dehydration (if you have the urge to pee constantly but aren't going very much that's from the bladder getting infected from lack of water), or lack of other nutrients. Let me know and maybe we can go from there. Also when exactly is your period due?

Well, my period is supposed to start on the 8th this month, I drink a lot of water, and i pee for minutes at at a time, so refreshing! Haha.

Well did you have sex from the 19th-25th of april?

KaityBear - May 6th, 2009 3:19 AM

on the 25th, prom night...

Well if it was unprotected or a slip up then you would have been right DAB in your fertile window and very seriously (and with those symptoms) could be pregnant. The only way to know for sure is to take a test if your period doesn't show on Friday. If it were me, and I didn't see usual pre-period signs I'd be taking that bad boy like Thursday and one again on Friday morning-first morning pee (more concentrated so it'd be a lot more trustworthy!)

KaityBear - May 6th, 2009 3:24 AM

Lol ok, I'll take one asap

KaityBear - May 6th, 2009 3:28 AM

Wait, so u can you get pregnant before AND after ur period?

V9653 - May 6th, 2009 3:29 AM

Good luck, and let me know what happens. Also if you need any support then don't be afraid to come back. The girls here are very helpful and I'm on late nights doing homework, and I know it can be a very stressful time-especially if that pee stick comes up positive!

KaityBear - May 6th, 2009 3:30 AM

Haha ok I'll keep tht in mind! I can never sleep, so yeah!

Dude sorry, I didn't see that last question. Technically you can get pregnant before and after your period, because see your period starts a new cycle. The day you start your period is day one of your cycle. As your cycle goes along it gets midway through and you ovulate (produce an egg for fertilization). Usually the day of ovulation is kind of hard to calculate because every woman's cycle is different but it is (on average) about day 14 of your cycle. They calculate this by using the date of your next expected period and counting 14 days before then. So yes, halfway between each period is around the time you are fertile and can get pregnant! With your period being expected on the 8th of this month, I calculate 14 days ahead and that suggests that you may have ovulated on the 24th. It's not an exact science on the dot, but you can say you ovulated anywhere between the 23rd to the 25th. The egg stays good for 24 hours which if you ovulated on the 24th, then you had through to the 25th to get pregnant, and you said you had sex on the 25th! I can tell you with great certainty that you had sex with an egg floating around inside you ready to get fertilized. It doesn't guarantee that you will get pregnant, because I think there's only a 20% chance of pregnancy having sex even during your fertile time.

Krissy25 - May 6th, 2009 7:57 PM

Oh honey, please don't say that, i don't even think you can imagine the challenges you would be facing bringing a child into this world at such a young age. If you are not pregnant i urge you to please, please, please do what you can to avoid pregnancy. I'm not saying this to be mean, it's just that you have so many fertile years ahead of you, why rush into it?

KaityBear - May 6th, 2009 10:15 PM

i know. but if i am, i'm gonna keep him/her, i would like the experience, i'm pretty much like a hippie, i go all natural, and like experiencing things hard or not, painful or sensual. i love everything! why wait, when you get older, better chance of having problems also! not to be rude...

Your exposre and signs are classic, including the lotion discharge, which will likely get worse with time - buy pantyliners. I guess you tell your parents by phone or email when you are sure you are pregnant and sure you are going to stick with it. I wonder about your present living arrangements - living with relatives, placement, or boyfriend? I hope your baby enjoys living au naturel as much as you do. Good luck with the test!
