I am pregnant with my first, and at 39 weeks I still have not dropped or made any progress at all. Doc is giving her until next Thursday to drop and if nothing then he is scheduling a c-section. Anyone had this happen? Did the baby drop in time? I dont have the feeling she is going to drop into place and without that I will not dialate etc. Just trying to get an idea what to expect.... any special I need to pack for a c-section besides the standard items? Thanks

Just wondering ehy they are scheduling a c-section....I would think they would just induce you. Doesnt seem to be a reason for major surgery?? I am 39 weeks as well, My baby dropped at 37 weeks. I am not dilated or effaced at all either, but doctor says that is fine.

im 36 weeks my midwife swears by the birthing balls, she said to me now, sit on it as much as you can watching tv and stuff, she said a UFO position helps baby get into correct position (ufo = upright, forward and open pelvis) she also said dont lie back on sofa, you can try sitting on a chair the wrong way round, and squating, these are all things my midwife has suggested, my friend didnt drop till the last few days with her first, i think relaxation might be the way forward, mabie try some meditation, good luck

Girls, we're in the same boat. I'm 39 wk as well. At last week appt I was 1cm dialated, and 20% effaced. Seems like I'm gonna be preg forever :(

i'm in my 38th week, baby hasnt dropped. doc is also preparing me for a csection if baby doesnt drop by the 40th week. anyone else knows how to encourage baby from dropping?

Michelel - September 26th, 2005 1:11 PM

I was in your situation. I ended up with a c-section. Dont assume that will happen to you, but it happened to me. Everyone is different. I also had my blood pressure increasing so she was concerned about that. My daughter was 9 lbs. so she didnt want to put me through labor when she knew in the end I would need a c/s. Good luck dear. I am 23 weeks pregnant and having another c/s.

They wont induce me unless the baby decides to drop. Doc said there is no point to inducing me if she hasnt dropped into my pelvis because I still wont progress as there is nothing pushing against my cervix. If she decides to drop then all plans are for a vaginally delivery. He is giving me until Thursday at 40 weeks for her to drop (only a couple days for her to drop if she plans on it) then I will be scheduled for a c-section early next week. June we are in the same exact boat! Let me know your outcome... I have tried all things suggested and baby still is being stubborn :)

hey AA, i'll definitely keep you posted. as of my last visit on sat, baby still has not engaged, not even low. I guess there's really nothing much we can do except wait and see for now. Good luck!

Hey AA, with my first I was due on march 5, the week before, i had had No progress, on mar 3 baby dropped at the end of a 4 mile walk!! on the 4th they gave me cervical gel to induce - nothing happened all day, then at 3 am on the 5th i went to the hospital with contractions, but had only dialated to a 1!! They were going to send me home, so DH walked out of the room to tell his mom, and my water broke within 5 minutes, 2 hours later I was a 9, 30 minutes later, I had a baby girl!! It can happen at the last minute!! Good luck!

Hi, H we live in Ca and decided t drive down to San Francisco for the day walked from pier 1 to pier 39 (a couple miles each way) figuring it could help move things along, nothing yet... deadline is nearing. I think I have just about tried everything now lol.... but all suggestions still welcomed! Ws the baby still out of your pelvis as well the week before? Thanks!
