I suggest that you work until you can't no more and try to be a stay at home mommy just for a couple of months when she/he is born and when you feel safe for the baby to be with baby-sitters or relatives then you can start going back to work. Make sense? |

I am 39 wks and 1 day Im due on Friday and I am still working. My last day is Wed the 3rd. I am only trying to work until the end as I dont have too much time off and I dont want to waste any. The only thing is Im a hairstylist and though I feel fine after work only a little tired, my ankles and legs swell to insane sizes. I say go as long as you can if you want, just dont push it too far and listen to your body. : ) GOOD LUCK! |

I was due March 31. On March 29 my induction date was set for April 3, so I worked until March 31 at my job. I did so because I wanted to have paid leave for as long as possible with my little boy. I was induced due to blood pressure. |

Thanks for all the replies! I am looking forward to staying home but I know I will miss working, even if I don't actually miss my job. LOL And to SarahB, my best friend is a hairstylist as well and she is 5 mos along with her second. My heart goes out to both of you. I know she's uncomfortable and it's hard on her but she loves what she does. I may hate my job but I am grateful that atleast I sit at a desk all day and I can wear jeans and flip flops to work. And to Evonna, I am not comfortable with people I don't know watching my daughter for 8+ hours a day and no one I know or trust lives close enough to babysit so I will be staying home. Which I'm sure will turn out to be a good thing. |

I'll be working as far up to delivery as possible, I need all the extra income I can make, so unless dr says otherwise I'm there until she comes! |

I am almost 34 weeks and doing two 12 hour night shifts a week. Which is less than what I used to do pre-pregnancy. It is nice that I only have to be at work 2 nights a week, but being up all night, and on my feet a lot, has been getting very difficult. But I will keep doing it as long as I can, until delivery if that is possible. |

I'm a teacher and due May 17th. My last day of work is the 8th. I'm holding a lot of water and the doctor doesn't like the way my legs are so swollen when I go in for appointments. I feel bad about quitting a little early...but I'm starting to feel the effects of this baby too! haha |

Hi mommypluma I planned on working to 36-38 weeks with my first but had to go part-time at 33 weeks due to high blood pressure. At 34 1/2 weeks my dr wanted me to cease work, so I packed up my desk on a monday, saw him on Thurs and was admitted to hospital on bedrest. My little boy was born by emergency c/s on the Sat at 35 weeks (he was little but okay). Sometimes our best laid plans dont always work out that way! I say plan to work to the end if you want, but be prepared to be flexible, you may have bad back pain that prevents you sitting for long periods ... stuff like that. Good luck! |

hi, My wife is exactly 34 weeks pregnant. We're having our first baby and she's 23 years old. Lately, she is been having serious sleep problems. It all started about 4 or 5 month ago. She got sick once, because she had lots of lime and it made her nauseous. She was very worried that it might harm the baby, so we decided to go to the nearest hospital. Doctor said it's nothing. we went back home. She couldn't sleep or even if she could she never really had a normal sleeping schedule. She stay asleep long. Her sleep state wasn't deep anymore. she's never really asleep... and she's never really awake. she tells me that she somehow, while she is asleep, actually feels taht she has been asleep. So we kept going to hospital for 3 nights in a row just because she felt that her heart was high, she's dreadfully exhausted and she just couldn't sleep eventhough she is not thinking about anything to make her more anxious. After that, her sleeping schedule went back to normal. Just recently her problem came back and last night she no longer listens to me. I keep telling her that going to hospital makes her much worse and they won't keep her for long and she has to wait for long hours to get checked out by a nurse. They're not private, and even if they were private we don't have that kind of money. She thinks she will go insane or die if this lasts for ever. what should I do? |

Correction/edited: Hi, My wife is exactly 34 weeks pregnant. She couldn't sleep or even if she could, she never really had a normal sleeping schedule. She couldn’t stay asleep long. Her sleep state wasn't deep anymore. She’s never really asleep... and she's never really awake. She tells me that she somehow, while she is asleep, actually feels that she has been asleep. So we kept going to hospital for 3 nights in a row just because she felt her heart beat was high, she's dreadfully exhausted and she just couldn't sleep eventhough she is not thinking about anything to make her more anxious and her mind is clear as pure water. However different doctors told her that everything is fine, just think positively and it will go away. Just absolute nonsense. Her stupid pregnancy doctor recommended that I start taking pills and seeing a psychiatrist. She doesn’t really care about our baby or my wife. It’s good that I have enough experience with pills and all Dangerous side effects they cause in every people of our great planet. After that, her sleeping schedule went back to normal. Just recently her problem came back and since last night she hasn’t been listening to me. I keep telling her that going to hospital makes her much worse and they won't keep her for long and we have to wait for long hours to get checked out by a nurse. They're not private, and even if they were private we don't have that kind of money. She thinks she will go insane or die if this lasts for ever. What should I do to make her feel better? |

mandydoid I am doing the same thing. Im due June 11 and my last is day of work is May 12. I feel that I need the time to relax, rest and nest. I drive 2 and half hours to work daily, so my dr. said that driving that distance alone will not be safe in the last month. I will go back to work sometime early october. |
