Is it true that the baby starts moving less as you get closer to labor? I haven't felt alot of movement since my membrane stripping yesterday - should I be worried? I have checked the hb with my doppler and all seems fine.....

my son hardly moved at all the 2 weeks before he was born, I was having non-stress test during the week so I knew all was well, I think they just run out of room, he did move alot well i was in labor though until I got to about 7 cm, its good you have a doppler gives you peace of mind

Well, its starting to stress me out. I just wish he would give me a good kick in the ribs every now and again, just to let me know he is OK. Would you ladies just trust the doppler, or do you think I should call the dr?

A good strong HB is a good indication things are going good. Does your doppler give you a read out of how fast the HB is? If it seems in the normal range with no decels I think things are fine. You could try drinking something sweet and laying down for a while and see if that motivates him to move. My little girl has slowed down a lot too though!

This past week I have noticed less movement, I mentioned it and the doctor did a NST which came out fine. It's worrisome but completley normal. When I was hooked to the monitors the nurse sat with me and said she could tell he was sleeping because of the HR. So she took out this thing and zapped hy stomach, he jumped and fell right back asleep instantly. She said they fall hard asleep in a matter of seconds, so they may wake up, give a few kicks and then fall right back asleep.. I was under the impression they had waking/sleeping periods but apparently it's pretty sporadic.

Thanks for the info momma3tobe. I had no idea they could fall right back to sleep in a matter of seconds. That makes me feel MUCH better!

I have to tell you, we are renting a HB Monitor too and it has been such a godsend through the whole pregnancy. Whenever I don't feel her move, I can just check with the device and there is the HB. Really calms me down. Yesterday she was pretty quiet, I cannot stand when she gets so quiet - it's scary!

try stimulating your stomache in spots where you know there is a foot or leg poking around. That's what i do every so often now, as baby isn't moving as much lately because of lack of room. Or going on your tummy in the bathtub works, my LO always starts going crazy when I do that, and it relieves pressure of the back too!

I think it's a matter of people are different, I went into labor on saturday and I actually said to my husband I don't think I'm in labor because I'm sitting here and he's wiggling around like crazy, low and behold I had a baby in my arms 4 hours later.

when i want my baby to move more i eat something high in sugar or fat, like candy or pizza. she LOVES pizza, it seems like lol i think less movement COULD mean labor is imminent, these things are so hard to say for certain, though. i don't really remember if it was true with my first baby...
