Any one out there already past due date, but baby is not ready? I'm dilated (3 cm), been contracting for over a month, soft cervix, but the Dr. says my cervix is still too high, and the baby has not dropped. He is still what he called "floating". Which means his head is not at the canal yet. I am a week over due. The Dr. says he will not and cannot induce until the baby is in position. (he is head down - not breach) I'm worried we'll end up with a C-Section. Anyone else out there experience this?

im 39 weeks, not dilated at all, and baby is still high up (she said "Floating" as well) I turned 39 weeks today so i still have a few days for him to get his ass down there!! THey cant induce because while you may or may not dilate, if hes still floating he most likely wont come down and you will end up with a csection anyway. My girlfriend had the same problem, they induced her and she got to 4 cms, stopped dilating even thought she was on pit. THe baby was still VERY high, and after 16 hours of labor she had a csection. GOod luck

Thanks HannahBaby. This deal runs in my Family. 3 of my mom's 4 children were over 4 weeks late!!! Same kind of deal (I guess they weren't as dilligent about the two week rule back in the 60's and early 70's) . My sister's first was two weeks late and after a failed induction finally had a c-section. I guess we'll see if I follow suit.

I'm not past my due date, but I'm on my 3rd and mine's floating still. This is what I've been doing to get my baby to move down. Get on hands and knees and do pelvic tilts for a good 20 minutes 2x's a day, belly dance moves (moving hips around), squats, light jogging in place nothing too rough. My doctor also told me to sit in a rocking chair/recliner with good posture having the knees lower than the hips. That will encourage baby to move into proper position. i have significantly dropped since Wednesday since doing these activities.

im almost 37 weeks and was told on tuesday when i went to l+d b/c contractions were every 3-3 1/2 mins that i was 2cm, but cervix was long and posterior and that her head was 3/5 engaged so shes nearly fully engaged, im just so ready to have this baby out
