Hi,

I am 38 weeks and 2 days pregnant and I am not sure if I have lost my plugs, when I went to the toliet I noticed 2 small white balls of discharge in the loo, does anyone think that is my plugs? I have been having small amounts of discharge found in my underwear for a couple of weeks now on and off and have been having period pains for a couple of weeks now to.

Please advise,

It sounds like it could be. Mine was gross and streaked with blood some, but it also came out over several days. It just means you are begginning to open up a little. Labor could be a week or two away or could happen tonight. I had my first the same day I lost my plug, but with my second I didn't ever notice losing it, and with my third I lost it over a period of 2 weeks before she was born.

It sounds like it is your plug. I would explain it to your doctor the next time you see them.
I never noticed mine the first time. What I do notice now is the cramps and the BH contractions are coming more often and more intense. And the pressure is getting to the point of unbearable. I can barely walk without wondering if the baby is trying to come out. I just hate how I don't know when I will go into labor.

Thanks for your reply. I spoke to the midwife and she said it sounds like my plugs and with the period pains, cramps and lower back ache but she said it could mean a couple more weeks till real labour, but have already been having these pains for 2 weeks now so hopefully not to long now. I am very scared about being induced and the longer you have to wait to longer you get anxious about labour ect and I hope its soon. The midwife gave me some lavender oil for the bath and to start drinking the raspberry tea so I will see if that works.

Any advise welcome.

I didn't know Lavender oil was used. With my first, I used rose scented bubble bath. I didn't drink raspberry tea, but I'm willing to try that now. The pressure is getting worse, but the doctor keeps telling me that's normal for the second. I swear, the last time I felt this pressure, I was pushing my daughter out.
For the past few weeks, I've been walking around the block. That seems to help. I haven't been able to walk, because it has rained here for 3 days straight.
Hang in there. Before you know it you'll be holding your baby.

For the mucus plug, according to what I have read it is very likely and common for losing it and not noticing it. That makes me wonder I have lost mine because of symptoms that I share with some of you.

With that said, I have a question, and it might sound stupid. Knowing that the mucus plus keeps bacteria and other microrganisms from entering the uterine area, are there any precautions we should take if we have in fact lost our mucous plug? For example, I keep a very clean bathroom, but no matter how clean an area is, one is always exposed to microrganisms. Should I avoid warm baths? Sounds stupid, I know...

Actually, it doesn't sound stupid. It makes sense, and I'm going to find out the answer tomorrow at my weekly appt. Last night I found stringy things in the toilet when I was finished, and I was wondering the same thing.
