I am 27w3d with my third child (a boy). For the last couple of days my hips have been throbbing! I feel as though they are grinding and turning into dust! I have never felt hip pain like this! It starts in my outer hip and radiates up into my lower back. I doubt very strongly that it had anything to do with contractions because there is no firmness to my uterus during these pains. I was chatting with my mother and she told me that she had a similar axperience when pregnant...but that was a 10 pound baby! My first child (daughter) was 7 lbs. 6 oz. and born on her due date via C-section after 20 hours of non-prgressive labor. My second child (son) was born 3 weeks early after my water broke and the doctor elected a repeat C-section. Any ideas?

I had that around the time you did, it only got worse for me not that I am 35w 6d. What my doctors so rudely told me was "Your body is streching getting prepared, its normal and nothing to worry about." Thats pretty much the answer for all my pains with the doctors I had. But its pretty common to feel like that, I did and still do. Wish I had more of a logical answer.

Thanks Nerdy Girl!--I'm sure you're just about fed up with the pain! lol I am here to tell yout hat I don't think that it's normal pain! I never had this problem with my other two pregnancies, but I guess there is a first time for everything. I am going to try sleeping in my son's bed tonight and putting him on the couch. He has a foam bed and it's amazing! Maybe my feather topped spring bed is just too hard for me?... I am going to do my best to figure it out! I haven't gained any weight yet this pregnancy, so I know it isn't that....I hope the bed thing will solve the problem. If I can't figure it out, I am going to go shoe shopping and see if that fixes it. Any other ideas?....

Just a quick one but you are describing the same pain I ahd with my third baby and about the same stage in the pregnancy. It got a lot worse to the point I could barely walk, my husband had to carry me up the stairs and I couldn't drive (in northern Ireland and car is manual/stick), I was in tears frequently. I was diagnosed with Pelvic Distropathy/Atropathy (I think thats how you spell it) and basically it is the hormones to soften your pelvis working too well and the bone separates that little bit too far. Physio helps as does wearing a support belt to keep the pelvis together. This might be worth looking into or asking about.

All I can say is it gets worse as you get bigger. I have it too.

I am on my third too, I didn't experience that pain that early but I am having it now (38wks) my hips hurt SO bad I can't sleep. I wish I had some advice on how to get it to go away but I have no idea other than standing in the pool where the weight of the baby is supported by the water.. maybe that would offer some relief.

I feel a little better today. I took it super easy yesterday. I didn't even stand to cook. I sat with my feet up as often as possible. I had a restless night due to the pain, but today I feel alright so far. No intense pain. When I was pregnant with my first child (daughter) I gained a lot of weight (like 60 lbs.) and my body hurt! I haven't gained anything with this one yet so I guess the worst is yet to come. lol Thanks for all of the information! I am going to look into a belly belt...You think that would work?...
