I know swelling in the face and hands is a sign that your blood presure is getting too high, but i think if your doctor thought it was too high he would have kept you in the hospital, so I would just lay around and relax, and drink lots of water, what was your blood pressure if you know? |

I know how oyu feel about the fear part, do your best to stay calm, and trust your doctor, they wouldnt want to do anything to harm you or your child, if they thought you were in serious danger they would have admitted you. |

thanks ... yes I thrust him , but still... I have been 110 70 the whole pregnancy and now 140 80 ... is that too high?? |

Hey- (i'm andRN)140/80- is is not that high at all- its just higher than you were before. Severe headacheds and swelling are other signs of Pre-eclampsia. If you blood pressure was every high- like maybe 160 or 180 he probablly would have sent you to the hospital right away. He is probably just being cautious- The u/s is probably to make sure she is ready to come out. I wouldn't worry- If he was worried you would have sent you right over to the hospital.... and at 38 weeks you can't possibly be on bedrest for that long which means you will get to meet your baby soon!!! |

at 38 weeks I went in and my bp was 148/118, I had to get a nonstress test done right away and got sent to the hospital. The OB said I had to start induction right away and since I was 38 week the baby is full term and the lungs should be developed enough. I'm not sure why c-section was brought up, the only thing with me is they talked about an epi as I wanted to go natural. An epi brings down bp during labour as it usually rises. I didn't need an epi because my bp actually went down in labour thank god. About 3 days later I had my beautiful daughter. Good Luck and try not to stress your self out. |

Watch for excessive sudden swelling as mentioned above. Also if you're really concerend you could have your dh or someone pick up a bp cuff/monitor for you. I think you can just by one at walmart. Overall though just try to stay calm. High bp isn't uncommon in pregnancy and if your doc sent you home to wait he must be concerend but not freaked about it. So, just try to relax (stress can make your bp higher), stay calm, and just watch for anything like sudden excessive swelling. |

Andy, I am 39 weeks and had a bp of 136/90 today which is above normal for me as well. My OB checked the protein level in my urine and I had trace amounts. She said as long as I don't have a headache, see spots or have any swelling, then I am okay. Those are signs of pre-eclampsia. I go back Friday as well and I feel your nervousness. We just have to trust our doctors that if it were something major, we'd be at the hospital. |

thank u so much for your answers ... the thing is I have been having little headaches this few days , no swelling thou ..And dh just came back from the my dr . he went to get the blood work and aparently no protein in the urine ... so thats good ... Well friday is not that far away ... He kind of put the c section thing on the table because he told me that my cervix was high and really closed , no progres at all and taht probably an induction will be very long and end up most likely in c section ...You know what I rather go to a planned c section than go thru a failed induction and hundred of hours later go for a c section ... but I know is too early to tell ... I´ll just try to relax and hopefully everything will be just fine on friday !!! |

ANDY, How did you make out today? My bp is still on the high side and bloodwork on my kidney function is showing signs of preeclampsia. My OB said I must rest all weekend and she wants the bloodwork repeated on Monday. I have had 3 m/c's so this is our miracle baby and I don't want anything to happen at this stage. I hope she admits me and induces. That is the only cure to this. |

hi kristine !!! so I went to the dr today and I´m so frustrated ! we had an u/s on the morning and aparently everything is fine , 7puonds 7 ounces , no signs of anything wrong with my baby thank God ,th tech just said that the placenta is starting to mature , but that still can hold on .... went to the dr and bp is 135 /80 , I think it is not that high but my head hurts all the time ... The u/s tech told us that if she were to be born by c secion this will be a perfect time .... but my dr sais we are fine and the only thing we have to do is wait !!!! I´m done waiting ... He programmed an exAM for this mon , a heart monitor for th baby to see if she can hold on and to see if I don´t "qualify" or need to be induced... what is the matter with the drs , can t they understand we just want our babies TODAY !!!! I had a m/c 6 months before conceiving this little princess , and then had some problems with 2 threatened m/cs ... so I totally understand you , she is my first and can´t wait to hold her!!! I´m 38w5d today .... why wont she come? |

Andy, why don't you relax and not worry and force thoughts into your head that your baby should come BEFORE she is ready. C-sections and inductions carry a risk for both of you and why would you want to do that if it is not at all necessary...? Trust mother nature and your baby, be patient and calm, that is the best for now. Good luck!! |

That should read: and NOT force thoughts into your head... |

my ds was born 3 weeks early because i was preeclamptic..the day i was induced, my bp was 211/109. he is 5 months old today and in perfect health..good luck! |

Skyeblue, It is easy to say just relax. Preeclampsia carries much more risk than a c-section or induction. I believe we just want our babies here and safe. ANDY, I know how you feel. I am all for her coming at her own time BUT I don't want to progress into more severe symptoms of the preeclampsia. We do need to trust our doctors though. Did you have any bloodwork taken? MOSLEY, Wow that is a high bp reading. Glad to know all worked out for you. |

yes , I know I should just wait for things to come on their own , but it is so hard... To know she is ready to be born right now , and that I don´t have anyway to know what will happen tomorrow or the next week ... I´m sorry skyeblue but it is really difficult after having m/c and now having all this problems not to just want to have my baby with me ... at the end of things I don´t care if I get opened or what ever , the thing is I don´t want my blood pressure to rise and now with the placenta getting grade III , ITS JUST FAIR FoR ME TO HAVE HER ... I know I´m not even due but this will be the longest week ever ... kristine , I had some bw done and luckily no protein in the urine , just hypertension , not preeclamsia thank God !! How many days till you are due? |
