I know this is going to sound stupid but I have a question. I am currently pregnant with my 1st baby at 30 weeks. I use to feel the baby kick all the time for lately it's more of a moving feeling that it is a kicking feeling. Is that normal? I still feel the baby just not the way that I use to feel him when I was maybe 20 weeks or so. Is anyone feeling this?

Hey i am 38 weeks! That sounds normal. Keep in mind your baby is getting BIG and your uterus isn't as roomy as it used to be. The movements become more like weight shifting then what you are probably used to with punches and jabs. Also babies go through growth spurts i got worried b/c the movements slowed down alot for a few days my doc reassured me everything was fine and my bundle of joy was probably going through a growth spurt. If at any point you get worried that baby isn't actiive enought call your doc. But all this sounds pretty normal. This is my first as well.

I was worrying about the same thing this weekend. Then this morning I read an article that said to count the movements and if there are less than 10 distinct movements in 2 hours, you should call your doctor. As I started counting, there were a lot more than that in a 2 hour period, so it made me feel a lot better.

Hi there yup completely normal!! Some docs say to check for 10 movements in 3 hrs but it varies! enjoy just the rolling around and movements, b/c when it does decide to punch and kick when it's bigger and stronger look out it actually hurts sometimes!! IT's the craziest feeling! IF you don't feel anything for a couple hours, stop put your feet up and get an ice cold glass of water! It may take awhile but the more you relax the more it will move!! Congrats and good luck!!

Hey there,
If you're worried... try this... drink (chug) a glass of orange juice, or ice water. Lay quietly on left side, and wait for it. The baby will inevitably start pounding the crud outta ya! If he doesn't move still.. then it could be because he has nowhere to move TO! Its not uncommon for babies (first babies especially) to drop into position for birth earlier than say second babies might. If he doesn't move a few times in a hour (kick counts of about 10 an hour is average)... then call the doctor... they'll probably tell you its nothing, and send for ultrasound to be sure.

as your baby grows and gets bigger, you will feel more "rolling around" movements than you will kicks and punches...your baby is running out of room in there and there isn't much room to kick or punch anymore.

Hi I am 34 weeks and I had the same feeling when I was about 30 weeks, it seemed like a whole day that I didn't feel her move but from then on alls I get is a rolling feelings I assume this is because she just doesnt have the room that she used to to stretch out and kick and bunch, but as nanders said be aware they can still find room to kick you every now and then and by god it can hurt especially if its in the ribs, the worst if you ask me is when they try to stretch right out but they just dont have the room, no matter what you do or how you lay nothing makes you comfortable you just have to wait for them to move..........well good luck
