Okay, so my doctor told me I had odd blode sugar levels and that I could either, just stop eating sugar infested meals, or go for a 3 hour glucose test...I choose the stop eating sugary foods option. Everything I seem to loook at or go to eat has some content of sugar in it, and Im going insane! Ive been eating deli meats, vegetables, pizza, and ice cubes the last few days. Any of you ladies who have had this for a while, what do you eat? Thanks for all your responses. The reason she gave me the option is because Im 16 days away from my due date.

Eggs with cheese and sausage or veggy sausage, chicken, salads, steak, green veggies like beans and broccoli. Sugar free jello and popsicles. Three quarters of a cup of berries balanced with at least 18 almonds. Kashi Peanut Peanut Butter bars. (Peanut is in the title of them twice). Always balance your carb (veggies, fruit) with a protein. I eat almonds all the time, mixed nuts....with my fruit. Good luck! Let me know if you have any more questions.

Thanks alot. Im glad I only have to do this for a few weeks. Pasta is bad right? And are soups okay, as long as they dont have pasta in them? I was told by someone that I can have a bit of sugar as long as I have a walk or do something to burn it off afterwards, but Im not sure thats right? And one more, is there any pop that is safe? Like maybe sugar free sparkling water...I just need something fizzy lol! Thanks alot, and sorry for all the questions.

I have a friend who's diabetic and she's allowed to eat little pasta, whole wheat breads, and as for the pop...any kinda diet she wants! Make sure you get a little bit of sugar in you somehow, even if it's through pasta and stuff like that cause sometimes she doesn't and she starts to feel faint. When she feels faint she eats a tablespoon of peanut butter! Best of luck during the rest of your pregnancy!!

I drink club soda either plain or with lemon in it. I also occasionally drink a Sprite Zero. Soup should be fine as long as the rice or pasta in it is minimal. I really haven't had any pasta or rice, but get my carbs from veggies or fruit. The key to the whole thing is to stay stable all day, so every time you do eat a carb, eat protein and fat with it.

Honestly, I would contact your local hospital and see if they have a diabetes center. Most do. I have GD and I saw one and they explained exactly what I can eat and when. I can eat 3 meals and 3 snacks. But they want me to eat 30 carbs for snacks and 45 carbs for meals. I find it really easy, just can't go out as much and have to prepare more in advance. I also eat a snack right before bed and I don't get hungry during the night. Hope that helps.

Jen, how did you get so lucky to be able to have 30 carbs for snacks? I was told to only have 15, which really doesn't make for much of a snack. Lunch and dinner can only have 30 to 45 grams of carbs. I am very borderline, why do you think I am being restricted so much on the snacks?

Well, I don't know. THat sucks 15 carbs. I am allowed 30 for snacks and breakfast and 45 for lunch and dinner. It may be weight, I weigh 200 lbs and am 5'9, Maybe that is it, I would try and call your local hospital, most have diabetic centers and work with GD patients. You can work with a nutritionist trained in GD and will customize a plan to your body type. I have lost 5 lbs so far and eat all the time. I am never hungry. For breakfast I tend to eat less, which is fine. My nutritionist said that I must eat the amount of carbs they liad out because my body uses that for energy and my metablism will never shut down. I met with the nutritionist yesterday. Oh, and I am norderline too. I knew someday I would probably get type 2 since 5 people in my family have it, but I failed the 1 hour with 199, 205 is what they say fails. But they did not even bother putting me through the hell of the 3 hour since eventually I would fail. Good luck. If anyone has a good recipie to share, please do so. I am searching for brownies made with spelnda to make for easter! I will post if I find it.
